Alex's Charitable Causes
Alex has done a lot of charitable work over the years, from his American Red Cross public service announcements during the Moonlight days to his work with Donate Life as a result of his Three Rivers experience, and now work with various causes in Hawaii and elsewhere.
In the past, people have started new threads every time Alex did a new charitable event. But those threads tend to get lost in the archives after a while. We'd like keep all the stories about his charitable work together and make them easier to find. Please post stories about Alex's charitable work here. And if you'd like to link to earlier threads about charitable events or causes Alex worked with in the past, please post them as a reply to this thread, and we'll collect them in this opening post, to make them easy to locate.

Re: Alex's Charitable Causes
Alex has done a very cool public service announcement for R U OK? Day in Australia. This year, it falls on Thursday, September 12th.

Here's a link to the R U OK Day charity web page: https://www.ruokday.com/
This seems like a cause that would be close to Alex's heart. He's been through the experience of having to say, "No, I'm not OK." What an excellent example he is for others to follow. And although this is an Australian thing, I think I'm going to take the opportunity to reach out to people I know who might need some support.
Thanks to @H50BAMF for tweeting about Alex's participation in this great cause, and to @MyMaximus for retweeting it.

Re: Alex's Charitable Causes
Hey, anybody feel like signing up for a boot camp session with Alex and Egan Inouye? http://www.hawaiifitcamp.com/self-defense-seminar/
It's for a very good cause: all proceeds (and at $300 a pop that will be quite a chunk of change!) will go to the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. Check the link for all the details. Oh, man... that would be awesome, wouldn't it?!???

Yeah, but...it would be a little counter-intuitive for any woman to try and defend herself against Alex, wouldn't it?

Well, yeah... but if he's acting like a bad guy... and we all know what a good actor he is!

'Oh Alex, I don't know if I'm ready to attempt that kick, I may need you to hold onto me a little longer'
That's my scenario.

My thought exactly! I'd be like, "Take me - I'm yours!"librarian_7 wrote:Yeah, but...it would be a little counter-intuitive for any woman to try and defend herself against Alex, wouldn't it?

Here's an article from Honolulu Pulse about the self-defense class that Alex and Egan Inoue taught. They raised $10,500 for the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children!
