Unintended Consequences--a drabble Coraline's POV G

Post by jen »

Disclaimer: no copyright infringement intended. I don't own Moonlight, I just love it and write for my own enjoyment and for others who love it, too

In a line of unintended consequences, this one hurts the most.

I wanted to give him everything! Did I suspect he’d react this way and through some illogical logic assumed if I ignored the possibility, it wasn’t real?

Not my first stupid mistake. Is there a way to change the rejection I see in his eyes when he looks at me?

I never meant to hurt him--but if I am honest with myself, I have to admit that I was thinking first about what I wanted, not him. He wanted me, so I thought I would be enough.

It wasn’t.

hey, some of her pain HAS to be assuaged when Mick comes to his shower stall and sees her wet and alive.

I love the girl....and I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing in her position.... My applause for this drabble.

I truly love this. Coraline's remorse over what she's done is tied with the hurt that she wasn't good enough to make him overcome this obstacle. Great!

Lucy

Thank you so much for reading and commenting.

This just came out of a case of insomnia last night.

Francis

How kind of you to read and leave the lovely comment.

Coraline is really a complex character and I have insisted in viewing her only through the lens of what she did to Mick. That was wrong, ultimately destructive and in this little piece, she admitted that--at least to herself.

Thanks!

Ah, introspective Coraline. I never thought of that. This little piece captures the feeling of Coraline owning up to her end. Good job, Jen.

Thanks, Nugmegger!

This is what comes from a case of insomnia and thinking a lot about Moonlight. For a long time, I viewed Coraline only through the lens of turnng Mick without his consent. Major, major bad decision. We caught a glimpse in TMC of another possibility. We never got a chance to see if this glimpse was genuine or just another deception.

The great thing about fanfic is that we get to explore both possibilities.
