Mick's Secret Income PG

Beth was unpacking some moving boxes and looked around the apartment. “Mick does being a private investigator really pay this well?”

“You doubt my abilities?”

“No. I was just wondering, this place is really expensive and ummmm. Never mind.”

“Come on Beth, ask.”

“It’s not important.”

“Beth.”

“Did Coraline buy this apartment?”

“No. This was always my place. I am a good P.I. but I do have other sources of income.”

“Such as?”

“Investments and other things.”

“Investments I get, Josef is a genius. What other things?”

“Music.”

“Music? Do you still play professionally?”

“No but I do get some residuals on some music I wrote.”

“Really? I didn’t find any music credits when I Googled you.”

“You Googled me?”

“Of course Mick. You have to Google nowadays.”

“Well I used pseudonyms Josef would have killed me otherwise.”

“What are some of them?”

“It’s not important.”

“Mick, you know I’ll find out. I was a reporter.”

“Investigate away.”

Beth spent the next two days trying to find a clue then she just grabbed his Ipod.

Jazz, jazz, jazz. 40’s, 50’s, jazz, The Beatles, jazz, jazz. Hmmmm Beth made a note of that song and continued looking. She found five songs totally out of place with the rest of them. She looked up the credits and discovered the music was written by five different musicians but she had a feeling.

When Mick came home that night Beth looked like Travis with a mouse.

“You look like the cat who swallowed the canary.”

Beth smiled and started to sing. I Love the Nightlife, I love to Boogie.”

Mick looked uncomfortable. “What are you talking about?”

Beth started to dance. “Oh come on Mick. Let’s do “The Hustle.”

“The Hustle was out of style before you were born. I hate Disco. Every serious musician hates it.”

Beth smiled “Come on. “That’s the way uh huh, uh huh, I like it uh hun uh hun.”

“Beth stop!”

“Stayin Alive, stayin alive ah ha ha ha.

“I didn’t write any of these lyrics just the music.” Mick defensively

“I knew it!”

“So now you know my secret source of income is Disco. Don’t tell Logan or he’ll never play Guitar Hero with me again.”

“I’ll keep your secret. I promise.”

OMG!!!!!!!!!!

This would TOTALLY ruin his rep!!!!
And I dunno; he may have to suck Beth dry at this point.
She's kept the vamp secret and all, but that's a mere trifle compared to this!

Seriously, though, perhaps it would be a good idea to find out precisely how Beth found out and get Ryder working on 'hiding the trail' a little better. Seriously, if anyone other than Josef found out, he would never live it down no matter how long he lives. His perpetual coolness would be forever shot.

Lilly - I didn't see this comment from so long ago. Mick has sworn me to secrecy on the rest of his music catalog.

jen - Mick has kept it hidden for a while but he does need to bury it a little better.

Wow.. I always knew he would be a great musician... no matter what decade....though he seemed to me more the rocking guy....
