What they're all about -- from the Tough Mudder website:
Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, half a million inspiring participants, and more than $2 million dollars raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world.

They announced Alex joining the team on February 8:
Stray Dogs Tough Mudder Team
Alex O'loughlin joins Stray Dogs. Alex worked on Criminal Minds with Simon Mirren and Shemar Moore so it's old mates getting back together again. Alex plays Steve McGarrett on Hawaii Five O. His character is an ex Navy Seal so I know the Wounded Warrior is close to his heart.
Mate!! We are all very excited.

Looks like SEAL training hell week, only more fun.
I wonder what Alex' people at CBS said, as this is bound to be risky for injuries of all kinds.
How long does it take to go 10-12 miles under these conditions?

For me? About a week and a half....

Seriously...it sounds like a real challenge, a complete BLAST, and they're supporting a fantastic cause.

Wow--that is so freakin' awesome! Good for Alex! And yeah, lean, mean, and EXTREME, I'd say...
I bet he's going to LOVE this experience. (Me? I would
not love it. Even if Alex were there, cheering me on. I'd just say "Kill me now so I can die with your beautiful, filthy face as my last sight.")

I wouldn't expect the Tough Mudder events to be televised, except maybe locally. If Alex is involved in an event, they might cover it in a news story on the Honolulu news stations... so we
should get some footage, I'd think.

If you look at the Tough Mudder
website, there are over 30 events scheduled all of the world for this year. My guess is that any given team would only participate in a handful of events, and even then not all of the members would be involved in each one. I do see that there's an event in Hawaii listed for 2013, but the details aren't available yet.
