Resolution, 2007 (Champagne Challenge #134) -- PG-13

Post by librarian_7 »

And another ML regular heard from…
And the usual disclaimer.

Resolution, 2007

I’ve always made a list. It’s what any organized man does. This year, though, there’s no need. I only have one resolution.

I’ve felt her slipping away, all this fall. She hardly looks me in the eye anymore. And since that trip to New York…

But I won’t lose her. I can offer her more than some seedy P.I. ever could. I’m the man she needs, the man she loves, if she’ll only realize it.

So here’s my resolution. Be there, be ready, and when the time is right, propose.

Beth belongs with me. I’m not going to lose her.

Thanks, Lucy. Well, you know Josh had to see himself as more of a "solid citizen" than Mick...it stung to see his girlfriend falling for someone else.

Josh could definitely offer Beth a different life than Mick could. However, it is up to Beth to decide which life she would prefer.

Josh needs to remember that it takes two to tango. Even if he is there, is ready, and proposes, Beth must make the final decision. Unfortunately for Josh, Beth may not agree that she belongs with him.

Loved this one, Lucky! :rose:

Yeah, give it your best shot, Josh, but I've got my money on the vampire!!

Cool look inside the mortal man's head, lucky. In my lust....er, I mean love for Mick, I may have been a bit callous in regards to Josh's feelings. He really was a stand-uo guy, who under normal circumstances, would've deserved winning the heart of his girl.

Poor Josh...he really is a tragic figure. But, and I think this is important, he was pretty much doomed by his own actions. As Mick said, Josh's job killed him. If Beth had never met Mick, chances are that Josh's job would have killed her, since Mick wouldn't have been around to save her from Tejada's men.

This was great.

Josh was truly a great guy. He and Beth were a cute couple, but once Mick St. John entered the picture, the poor guy didn't have a chance.

I'm with Fleur. Even if there had been no Tejada, I've gotta put my money on the vampire, too.

Thank you!

Jenna

Oh, poor Josh. I can totally see this running through his head. And inside a month, he was dead. :Mickangel: I agree that his job doomed him, and might very well have killed Beth too. But that wasn't in the front of Josh's mind this New Year's He was fighting for the girl he loved. RIP, Josh. :hankie:

Poor Josh, he is a tragic figure and he was looking forward to a long and happy life with Beth. Sadly his days were already numbered.

Wow, this hurts. Poor Josh will never get to propose, and in some way this is better than being turned down. But he didn't know that he would be dead within a month. So sad.

What I like so much about this story is how much it sounds like Josh. A little bit dull, but with fire underneath. Absolutely convinced that he knows what's right. Determined that if he works hard enough, he can accomplish anything. And a little bit blind to the actual realities. :Mickangel:
