What NM911 said....this was only the second time I've seen the show and 37 minutes into it, I was worried Jason wasn't going to be anything more than 'Fedora guy' slinking about without ever saying a word....

and then wow!! once he was turned loose, the God of Time was someone to be both feared and pitied. I think that's the first time I've ever seen Jason play such a physical character. At the same time, he brought out the sadness and irony of his character's existence. Glad I watched.

And somehow, they managed to bring in the vampire angle. :snicker:

Nicholas Lea didn't do so badly either....the banter between Elliot Ness and Dean Winchester was priceless as they tried to 'communicate'.

Gotta say, and I don't think this is a spoiler...but I liked what they did with the Eliot Ness character. That was pretty well done.

Yeah, Elliot Ness was a real hoot. The slang was brilliant. Hey, when they used the term Nancy - did that originate with the old cartoon or something?

No - it's apparently a derivation of the British slang 'nancy boy' used to indicate a man who wasn't very tough.

Yeah, they had at least two hours worth of stuff, and crammed it into one.

Okay, didn't you really want Chronos to look at Dean, there at the end, and say,
Spoiler:
"The bastard staked me!"
Now THAT would have been cool.
yeah, but that would cool, wouldn't it? :rolling:

Yeah, I was disapointed with the not much Jason thing. As I commented over at 6 degrees of AOL, this was my first Supernatural ep. Sam and Dean are a hoot, I liked the Eliot Ness storyline, and I loved the haberdashery lady. She was all kinds of cool. Even snuck a kiss with future boy! I don't blame her at all, he looked scorching in that suit! :melts:
I enjoyed the story and the many tie-ins it had with Moonlight. I wonder if Jason felt the same?

Okay, I'm going to tag this in case anyone hasn't watched yet.
Spoiler:
Chronos's story felt a lot to me like Josef and Sarah--but his Lilah was no Sarah. She couldn't accept that he was so out of the ordinary. Granted, in this case it might have even been a moral stance, but nonetheless...Chronos seems like Josef without his humor and charm.

A review from TVGuide: http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/supernat ... ime/192272

Don't read it if you haven't watched the episode.

My favorite part:
Spoiler:
Jason Dohring: There are so many times a show brings on a big guest star -- and make no bones about it -- in this WB/CW world, Veronica Mars' Jason Dohring is a big guest star. Anyway, there are so many times a show brings on a big guest star and then it turns out the actor isn't utilized in the best capacity or they're not utilized enough. Thankfully, Dohring's role as Chronos, the God of time, was a role that didn't disappoint. This villain of the week was not one-dimensional. Dohring gave Chronos some substance and while there's a reason why this God was draining people of their life juice or force, it wasn't a good enough reason. He had to be dealt with and that's what Sam and Dean (and Eliot Ness) did. It was great to see Dohring who's also on the CW's Ringer.

I agree with Lucky.
Spoiler:
It was almost like a flip-side-of-the-coin to the Josef and Sarah story.
But the more I think about it, the more it bugs me that
Spoiler:
they killed him so easily. How the heck could he have survived for umpteen millennia, if he was that easy to kill??!
However, I don't watch Supernatural regularly, either. So maybe that sort of thing is common on that show.

ETA: ooh, off to read the review! :hyper2:

Well, to see a good example of how they handle gods on Supernatural, you might want to check out Season 5, Ep. 19: Hammer of the Gods. A sort of "godcon" with a group from a number of different mythologies gather to discuss how to keep the Judeo-Christian God from causing Armageddon.

I will say (and I'm not a devoted viewer, but have picked up a number of episodes over the past few seasons) that angels tend to come back after being dispatched. Castiel was "killed," and is scheduled to come back later this season. (After Misha Collins, the guy who plays him, guests on Ringer.)

If you've never watched Supernatural, I can recommend a few episodes....I'm particularly fond of the ones featuring Becky the Slash Writer. Yes, the show actually does realize that there are fans out there, and what they do.

I'd tend to say that, as TV show fandoms go, the Supernatural Fandom is probably the 21st century equivalent of Star Trek Fandom from back in the day.

I never watched Supernatural before but I loved a few nods and winks to other movies and genres.
Spoiler:
Once he said The Biff system on the gambling I was waiting for the Back To the Future 3 of sending yourself a letter in the future
I also loved
Spoiler:
Eliot talking about vampires in Cleveland reminded me of two episodes of Buffy. One were there was a wish that Buffy never came to Sunnydale so she didn't but was a slayer in Cleveland. I think the last episode Giles said there was a Hellmouth in Cleveland

Also for anyone who watches the show the ending
Spoiler:
Your future is covered in black ooze. Does that mean anything to that guy or just a cool sounding threat?
