Saw this bubble to the top and treated myself to a re-read. What a wonderful heart-breaking, yet heart warming story. This is a truly human Mick, not just because of the cure, but because of how he reacts to the pain of losing long-time friends. One of them is gone forever, but he reaches out in his sorrow to the one who means everything to him and by her response, Mick has finally found what he was always looking for - home.

P'Gal, you do know how to tug at the heartstrings. :rose:

What a lovely surprise to find this again! I'll bet I have read it over a dozen times and it still brings a tear to my eye. Sweet, sad human Mick. Reading this on a Monday and then seeing Steve McGarrett, tough guy, tonight - what a juxtaposition!

Someone on a German Alex O'loughlin Forum posted the link to your story and for I had a bit of time I read it... and fell in love with it. This is such a deeply moving, wonderful piece of work... Can't tell how touched I was and how much I liked it. And you're a really talented writer.
Love how soft and vulnurable Mick becomes through the influence of his human state and the alcohol. And it's exactly what Beth needs to give in to her own feelings and forgive him and herself and in the end give Mick what he needs. Just wonderful... Definetly a story I'll read again. So thanks for writing this.

Thank you so much for the great compliment, Lilith. :rose:

I really do have a soft spot for a vulnerable Mick, and for a happy Mick/Beth ending. I'm really tickled you like this!

jv, kays...thank you so much.

I still find myself torn with this one when it comes to a second part. It took so much to get it just the way I wanted it, a lot of heartache and A LOT of help from great betas until I felt it was sufficient to post. Part of me would love to do a second part - in fact, I started one. But another part of me thinks doing a Part 2 would take away from the overall feel of this.

Still...nothing's impossible. ;)

Just came by to reread this fic. The emotions are so honest, so real and so open here.

Poor Mick. I hope he remembers some good hangover remedies. Maybe Beth has some newer ones.

Fabulous fic!

Thanks

Jenna

Hey PNWgal...I know exactly what you mean; this fic is so special as a stand alone story, not to mention the fact that Mick would have a terrible all too human hangover the next day :snicker: I'll respect your decision either way-

What a wonderful world it is...

This is one of my short-listed short fics (say that 3 times fast!) And the first thing I dived on when I finally got around to getting here.

Beautiful, beautiful job.
