It's no secret I'm completely captivated by this story - I can't even read it unless I'm home alone because I weep like the UPS man just ran over my dog.

It's so powerfully written and the depth of emotions displayed by Mick, Beth AND Josef leap off the page and burrow deep into my chest - the chapters stay with me long after I finish reading them.

I LOVE your Beth - she's so strong and even though her heart is breaking, she's manning up and working to make something of this new life. I fear for Mick...so impulsive. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid. And as always, I wonder what Josef is up to.

Just...lovely, Red. :)

Hmmm, hearing strains of the Hallelujah Chorus in my head... ;)

coco, Grace, thank you. You really need some pompoms...

PNW, your words are so sweet! And you are right to be worried - on all counts. Just sayin'.

Okay, this is going to seem like a stupid question probably...but...

Is Beth in Washington, Washington, or Washington D.C. ? :dunce:

I've got the sobbing under control now. Josef's practically--this is why he is such a fascinating character...he is cold, ruthless, heartless here...He does what the situation requires with brutal effiency, and makes no apologies. He's a vampire's vampire, and I love it. :happysigh:

Washington, D.C.. But by now, you know that :snicker: .

Josef is very much in control. For now. Just sayin'.

Savoring this story slowly...and thought it seemed like time to read another chapter.

Loving it...

I just adore your Josef, Red. So much power and steel and so much charm. You can really believe, here, that he's had four hundred years of experience in this world.

Wonderful depictions of Mick and Beth as well, each buckling down to manage on their own. And Mick writing letters he'll never send - that's just beautiful.

Thanks, Shadow - Josef's so important to this story, so I'm delighted you're enjoying him.

As for the letters, once you get to the end of the story, you'll find a separate thread, "A Year-Long Love Letter", which is made up of Mick's letters.

You definitely go for the heartstrings and know precisely where they are. No question about it.

But in this reread, it struck me how you write the characters to perfection. Mick and Beth each suffer, each in their own way. Josef is Josef. Spot on. Snarky, all attitude, yet intensely loyal to those he protects--all the best Josef characteristics are here. He hides so much of his own pain throughout.

Josef is the hero of this piece. No question about that, either.

Indeed he is - although they all have their moments of heroism along the way. :hearts:

From the man that stayed patiently for so many hours out of Mick's door...all through the night..all through the initial pain, to the Josef who sets up his fighting machine, I know there is 400 year of experience behind..Oh, it is such a pleasure reading your Josef, red!

Mick's letters are sure to break Beth's heart one day... :cloud9:
