I just watched this movie again - I'd never registered Shannyn before in a small, but pivotal, role.

For me, the film has always been far more noteworthy for the astonishing revelation that Val Kilmer is funny. And yet the world still spins...

Otherwise, Robert Downey is fabulous, Michelle Monaghan has a great role (very few women get to be funny, smart AND sexy), Val Kilmer steals every single scene playing the famous private detective, Gay Perry (seriously - he is a hoot) and references to noir thrillers abound. It's dark at times and violent but also delightfully sharp.

O I love movie revisits... I saw this earlier this Spring... thoroughly enjoyable and the BEST title ever! Ever!!!

ETA: In my excitement... yes... Shannyn. I kinda wonder that her career hasn't been stronger... she is uniformly good in everything.
Tho I didn't care for her, I must admit, in that Heath Ledger knight movie...

Oh, lord... I used to looooooooooove Val Kilmer (I still have a mad crush on Madmartigan), but I've never seen this. I'm gonna put it on my Netflix queue!

I LOVE this movie, and yes, when I watched it again this year I noticed Shannyn in the role. It's such a brilliant cast, so tightly plotted and the relationship between Downey Jnr and Kilmer is a scream.
