I have a new favourite song - and it's a new, favourite Mick song - from my new favourite album, Skying by The Horrors.

The whole album is amazing but I simply cannot stop playing this song:
Still Life

Under a sky, no one sees,
Waiting, watching it happening.
Don’t hurry give it time,
Things are the way they have to be.
Slow down, give it time,
Still life, you know I’m listening.
The moment that you want is coming if you give it time

When you wake up, when you wake up,
You will find me
When you wake up, when you wake up,
You will find me

Under a sky, no one else sees,
your ship appears in front of me
The sky clears, the sun hits
I'm here
Waiting, It's happening happening.
The moment that you want is coming if you give it time

When you wake up, when you wake up,
You will find me
When you wake up, when you wake up,
You will find me

When you wake up, when you wake up,
You will find me
When you wake up, when you wake up,
You will find me
I know I'm always recommending Mick songs (because I find him everywhere) but every time I listen to this song, I can SEE him walking down the street, sheltering from the pain of the sun, just as he longs for the light.

Listen to it here: http://bit.ly/oYOHZo

You won't be sorry.

Being as I've been in the midst of ML nostaligia this week, there have been quite a few songs I've heard that have reminded me of Moonlight. None more than Goodnight Moon by Go Radio (sometimes living with teenagers can influence your musical choices!) This song takes me to a place where Mick and Beth are newly involved in a romantic relationship. It makes me think of the burdens of his past that he is letting go. Her walking down the stairs at his penthouse,
him taking in her every feature and being in complete awe that he's been given this gift of love.

The link plays the song and also lists the lyrics. Enjoy.
Goodnight Moon lyrics

And don't go to bed yet, love,
I think it's too early,
And we just need a little time to ourselves.

If my wall clock tells me that it's four
In the morning,
I'll give it hell.

'Cause I've been trying way too long,
To try and be the perfect song,
When our hearts are heavy burdens,
We shouldn't have to bear alone.

So goodnight moon,
And goodnight you,
When you're all that I think about.
All that I dream about.
How'd I ever breathe without...

A goodnight kiss
From goodnight you,
The kind of hope they all talk about.
The kind of feeling we sing about.
Sit in our bedroom and read aloud,
Like a passage from goodnight moon...

And sing for me softly, love,
Your song for tomorrow
And tell me my name's the one sitting in there somewhere

And dream for me anything, but dream
It in color about
We know the sun's still rising but we don't care

'Cause I've been trying way too long,
To try and be the perfect song,
When our hearts are heavy burdens,
We shouldn't have to bear alone.

So goodnight you,
And goodnight moon,
When you're all that I think about.
All that I dream about.
How'd I ever breathe without...

A goodnight kiss
From goodnight you,
The kind of hope they all talk about.
The kind of feelings we sing about.
Sit in our bedrooms and read aloud,
Like a passage from goodnight moon...
From goodnight moon...

Then there you were,
And I saw my Juliet come graceful down the stairs.
It's hard to miss,
The way her eyes light up the room,
And steal the air.

Just feel her lips,
Lock on to every breath I take;
Can't breath it in.

Do you feel us falling?

'Cause I feel us falling...

So goodnight moon,
And goodnight you,
When you're all that I think about.
All that I dream about.
How'd I ever breathe without...

A goodnight kiss
From goodnight you,
The kind of hope they all talk about.
The kind of feeling we sing about.
Sit in our bedrooms and read aloud,
Like a passage from goodnight moon...

Oh, from goodnight moon....

And there you were,
And I saw my Juliet come graceful down the stairs.
It's hard to miss,
The way her eyes light up the room,
And steal the air.

Do you feel us falling?
'Cause I can feel us falling...

Do you feel us falling?
'Cause I can feel us falling...

Do you feel us falling?
'Cause I can feel us falling...

Do you feel us falling?
'Cause I can feel us falling...

Do you feel us falling?
'Cause I can feel us falling...

Do you feel us falling?
'Cause I can feel us falling...

Do you feel us falling?
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh...

Oh, my goodness... I just heard a song by one of the bands that did songs for Moonlight. Remember "The Mating Game" from The Ringer? The band, Bitter:Sweet, did a song called Bittersweet Faith that totally reminds me of Mick and Coraline. It was featured in The Devil Wears Prada, but it's soooo Moonlighty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k30_3FHb4_c

No regrets
Everything will work out fine
We'll hold our breath
Wait for another sign
I've tasted
Your bittersweet faith
My heart aches for you
I'm taking
A moment to say

Everything I do
I do for you
I do it all for you

Lay your sweet
Tears across my broken dream
Don't you speak
A word about the past
You'll need more than I'll ever give
I can't lie to you
I love you
My angel, my sin

Everything I do
I do for you
I do it all for you
Anything, anything for you

Are we moving in the right direction
What is fate if fate's immersed in shame
A high price for the beauty of perfection
I go when all I want to do is stay

I do for you
I do it all for you
Anything, I do it all for you
Anything for you

The Artic Monkeys sing...."Don't sit down cause I've moved your chair" it seems angsty enough for Mick

Break a mirror, roll the dice
Run with scissors through a chip pan firefight
Go into business with a grizzly bear
But just dont sit down cause ive moved your chair

Find a well known hard man and start a fight
Wear your shell suit on bonfire night
Fitting a circular hole
With a peg thats square
But just dont sit down cause Ive moved your chair

Oooh yeah yeah yeah

Bite the lightning
And tell me how it tastes
Kung fu fighting on your roller skates
Do the macarena in the devils lair
But just dont sit down cause Ive moved your chair

Oooh yeah yeah yeah

Kreesha Turner, whose song "Bounce With Me" played at the beginning of BC (during the fashion shoot), just released a new CD called Tropic Electric. I like her song "Rock Paper Scissors."

I have so much music that makes me think of Moonlight. I have playlists full of songs. I will start with a few...

Blame by Transluzent/carla Vallet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEN8cfTM-S0

This one is actually from the movie, Alex Rider: Stormbreaker. It just "sounds" like a Moonlight song to me. All of the talk about lies and this part:

"And the sunrise paints the skies red with shame
And you wake up find the whole world's gone insane"

Makes me think of the Mick and Beth sunrise scene. The secret is out and I think that Mick feels some shame in hiding the truth from her. And when he walks away from her and leaves her just standing there, I think she feels like the world has just been turned upside down. And I think that Joseph reflects this part:

"But if you hide yourself away
Well I say, hey
You've only got yourself to blame"

He sees Mick has hiding out and that some of his "broodiness" is by choice.

Full Lyrics:
You and I
We're floating in a kaleidoscope of lies
I wanna break free
Cos its really scarin' the hell outta me

Gotta decide
Whether or not you believe all those lies
Just take it from me
They've got a strangle hold on the way we sleep

And the sunrise paints the skies red with shame
And you wake up find the whole world's gone insane
But if you hide yourself away
Well I say, hey
You've only got yourself to blame

And tell me why
You dress the truth in a velvet disguise
Well take it from me
They got a strangle hold on the air we breathe

And the sunrise burns the sky red in shame
And you wake up to find the whole world's gone insane
But if you hide yourself away
Well I say, hey
You've only got yourselves to blame

Look at yourself, you've only got yourselves to blame
Well you think you walk on water,
I wanna tell you baby,
I can't stand to live inside your nightmare any more

You can spin your web of anaesthetic dreams
But you'll never break me
You can never shake what I believe
What I believe, I believe

And the sunrise fills the sky full of rain
It'll hide the tears that wash away my pain
But if you hide yourself away
Well I say, hey
You've only got yourselves to blame
You've only got yourselves to blame

Well you always knew
I wanna tell you baby
I can't stand to live inside your nightmare any more

I'm floating in a kaleidoscope of lies
I wanna break free
Cos its really scarin' the hell outta me

If I didn't know better I swear that this song was written specifically for Moonlight. It so reflects the fact that Mick sleeps in a freezer and feels very isolated in the world.

Freezer by Supreme Beings Of Leisure

I live my life in a freezer
I live my life like millions of people
I left my heart in a freezer
I left my mind and I don't even know

And I've turned to stone
Yes I've turned to stone
And I've turned to stone
Left out alone

I left my thoughts in a freezer
I left my thoughts where nobody goes
I lost my soul in a freezer
I lost my heart where it's forty below

And I've turned to stone
Yes I've turned to stone

Too many visions in the same stream
One ?? living in a hazy dream
To many voices make an ugly scream
They're hounding? me, I cannot see
Why must it be
I'm in a freezer

Free me from the freezer (x4)

Cause I've turned to stone
Yes I've turned to stone
Well I've turned to stone
Cause I've been alone

Too many visions in the same stream
One ?? living in a hazy dream
To many voices make an ugly scream
They're hounding? me, I cannot see
Why must it be
I'm in a freezer

And I must be stone
In the freezer

This song has a very haunting, moody atmosphere. (And I love the reference to rain, very norish.) I see it mirroring Beth's life right after she discovers that Mick is a vampire and then after Josh dies. It is the period of time where you are still in shock from a sudden event and you are processing how life is different now.

New Life by O+S
(featured in the movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJM11mo3UeQ

I still like the sound of the rain
On my roof at night
Kind of like God's knocking

I still like to hear the train
Like it's coming through my room
Come to take me away

It's not a new life
It's the same old one
It's not a new life
It's the same old one
Just different

I still walk with my eyes shut
Just to see how far I'll go
Before I stumble

I still like to drink all night
To say the things I won't
In the daylight

It's not a new life
It's the same old one
It's not a new life
It's the same old one
Just different

If you know how to change it
Please tell me now
I don't know how

I got your message in the mail
It said "I'm glad you're doing well
Out there in your new life"

It's not a new life
It's the same old one
It's not a new life
It's the same old one
Oh
It's not a new life
It's the same old one
It's not a new life
It's the same old one
It's not a new life...

This song totally makes me think of Coraline's schemes and how, at the end, she choose to do right by Mick. A song full of melancholy and a sense of despair...

She - Grand Avenue
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKISk74zXqo

Weightless in her empty house
Nothing's like she said it would be
The snow will fall
And she will fall through the streets
Her moves are slightly unreal
She
She's got a twisted mind
And she
She's gonna need more time
Push and pull 'cause there's not time
To make amends for all that's been said
Remember now the words she said
It doesn't seem to put anything
In it's right place
She
She's got a very twisted mind
She
She's gonna need more time
She
She's got a very twisted mind
She
She's gonna need more time
She
She's gonna need more time.

It's been a long time since I visited this thread, but I was listening to an old k.d. lang album recently - Ingenue - and nearly every song reminds me of the lives of Moonlight vampires and freshies. Here's a link to a playlist of the album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1ZbBsJ ... fEaAyQnsIY

and some of the song lyrics... although they're all very Moonlighty to me. :hearts:

Save Me (Mick and Coraline, in my mind)

Save me, save me from you
But pave me the way to you
Lead me upon the captive free
Gracious and tame like love can be
Lead me upon

Spoil me, spoil me with you
And soil me with the world of you
Watch over me with a mother's eyes
Judging my worth only to glorify
Watch over me

Save me, save me
Save me, save me

Carry, carry me through
And bury all my doubts of you
Clothe my desire with spell or prayer
I'll shroud every sign of need I swear
Clothe my desire

Save me, save me
Save me, save me

Save me, save me
Save me, save me
Save me

Constant Craving (Mick)

Even through the darkest phase
Be it thick or thin
Always someone marches brave
Here beneath my skin

And constant craving
Has always been

Maybe a great magnet pulls
All souls towards truth
Or maybe it is life itself
Feeds wisdom
To its youth

Constant craving
Has always been

Craving
Ah ha
Constant craving
Has always been

Constant craving
Has always been
Constant craving
Has always been

Craving
Ah ha
Constant Craving
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been

Outside Myself (an old vampire)

A thin ice covers my soul
My body's frozen and my heart is cold
And still so much about me is raw
I search for a place to unthaw

Something in me broods love into fear
It veils my vision leaves my thoughts unclear
My eyes from blue turn to grey
Hoping to mask what they say

I've been outside myself for so long
Any feeling I had is close to gone
I've been outside myself for so long

I have been in a storm of the sun
Basking, senseless to what I've become
A fool to worship just light
When after all, it follows night

I've been outside myself for so long
Any feeling I had is close to gone
I've been outside myself for so long

I've been outside myself for so long
Any feeling I had is close to gone
I've been outside myself for so long

Miss Chatelaine (a freshie)

Just a kiss just a kiss
I have lived just for this
I can't explain why I've become
Miss Chatelaine

Just a smile, just a smile
Hold me captive just a while
I can't explain why I've become
Miss Chatelaine

Every time your eyes meet mine
Clouds of qualm
Burst into sunshine

Just a sigh, just a sigh
Words my love just reply
I can't explain why I've become
Miss Chatelaine
Miss Chatelaine

Just a smile, a smile
Hold me captive just a while
I can't explain why I've become
Miss Chatelaine

Every time your eyes meet mine
Clouds of qualm
Burst into sunshine

Ah, just a kiss, just a kiss
I have lived just for this
I can't explain why I've become
Miss Chatelaine

Miss Chatelaine
Miss Chatelaine
Miss Chatelaine
Miss Chatelaine

So It Shall Be (Beth)

Shadows now curtain the moon
But faith swears
It will shine again soon
Shine with love
You've been hiding from me

Your kiss has hindered the day
A longing that won't go away
You just keep knocking
And waking my heart
Like daylight chasing the dark

I can exist being caught by your kiss
Willingly
Or grant you control
Of my body and soul
Ask it and so it shall be

Shadows now curtain the moon
Still faith swears
It will shine again soon
Shine with love
You've been hiding from me
With that love
You've been hiding from me

I can exist being caught by your kiss
Willingly
Or grant you control
Of my body and soul
Ask it and so it shall be
Ask it and so it shall be

I first heard Calling All Angels by Train in the pilot of the new Beauty & the Beast but it always reminds me of Moonlight. In part, it's because the lyrics mention angels and private eyes. :winky: But the lyrics in general remind me of the "When darkness falls, a hero will rise" tagline that was used in the early Moonlight promos, which takes me back to the time when Moonlight was new and full of potential and I was eagerly looking forward to new episodes each week... :hearts:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3wwjUnPqTE

Calling All Angels by Train

I need a sign to let me know you're here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup

When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you feel the world shake from the words that are said

Chorus:
And I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels

I won't give up if you don't give up
I won't give up if you don't give up
I won't give up if you don't give up
I won't give up if you don't give up

I need a sign to let me know you're here
'Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

Chorus:
And I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels

When children have to play inside so they don't disappear
While private eyes solve marriage lies cause we don't talk for years
And football teams are kissing Queens
and losing sight of having dreams
In a world that what we want is only what we want until it's ours

Chorus:
And I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels
And I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels

Calling all you angels...

When I first heard Human by Christina Perri, I pictured a music video of Mick not using any scenes from flashbacks when he was human or TMC when he was on the cure thereby showing that even though he's a vampire, Mick is human in all the important ways. The chorus "But I'm only human/And I bleed when I fall down" could punctuate this even more by using scenes of vamped out Mick -- rescuing baby Beth from Coraline, bloodied from silver buckshots at the end of OOTP, or getting beat up by teen vamp in AD, etc. :chin:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL0Vx3SzdCM

Human by Christina Perri

I can hold my breath
I can bite my tongue
I can stay awake for days
If that's what you want
Be your number one

I can fake a smile
I can force a laugh
I can dance and play the part
If that's what you ask
Give you all I am

I can do it
I can do it
I can do it

But I'm only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I'm only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
'Cause I'm only human

I can turn it on
Be a good machine
I can hold the weight of worlds
If that's what you need
Be your everything

I can do it
I can do it
I'll get through it

But I'm only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I'm only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
'Cause I'm only human

I'm only human
I'm only human
Just a little human

I can take so much
'Til I've had enough

'Cause I'm only human
And I bleed when I fall down
I'm only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
'Cause I'm only human

I was listening to Janis Ian's Between the Lines last night (one of my faves) and I am now going to call this the "Josef and Sarah album." Even though this is the album with "At Seventeen" on it (really, NOT a Sarah song :rolling: ), the rest of the album pretty much tells their story... here are four that really jumped out at me. You can listen to them on her website. The player includes about half of each song and the full song for a couple of them:

http://www.janisian.com/albums/between.php

Light A Light
I hear your voice in every corridor
See your face in every picture frame
I feel your eyes in every starry sky
Lover, am I coming home again

Now am I humble, who once was proud
Now am I silent, who once was loud
Now am I waiting for the sound of your saying
Lover, am I coming home again

When you're gone, the sun don't shine
Light a light, light a light for me
Bring me back home again

And how we loved, 'til the years were days
How we laughed all our tears away
and now the time begins to fade
Lover, am i coming home again

There's a wisdom in the teachings
of the old familiar songs,
and a sorrow in repeating
all the old familiar wrongs,
and a lesson to be learned,
though I've known all along
Lover, am I coming home again

Light a light, light a light for me
Light a light, light a light for me
Light a light, light a light for me
Bring me back home again
Bring me back home again

Tea And Sympathy
I don't want to ride the milk train any more
I'll go to bed at nine, and waken with the dawn
and lunch at half past noon
Dinner prompt at five
The comfort of a few old friends long past their prime

Pass the tea & sympathy
for the good old days long gone
Let's drink a toast to those who most
believe in what they've won
It's a long, long time 'til morning
plays wasted on the dawn
I'll not write another line,
for my true love is gone

And when the guests have done
I'll tidy up the room
I'll turn the covers down
and gazing at the moon
will pray to go quite mad
and live in long ago
when you and I were one, so very long ago

Pass the tea & sympathy
for the good old days long gone
Let's drink a toast to those who most
believe in what they've won
It's a long, long time 'til morning
plays wasted on the dawn
I'll not write another line,
for my true love is gone

And when I have no dreams
to give you any more,
I'll light a blazing fire
and wait within the door,
and throw my life away
"I wonder why?" they all will say
And now I lay me down to sleep,
forever and a day

Pass the tea & sympathy
for the good old days are dead
Let's drink a toast to those who best
survived the life they've led
It's a long, long time 'til morning,
so build your fires high
Now I lay me down to sleep,
forever by your side

From Me To You
I'm leaving by night, I'm leaving alone
Leaving it lie, when you waken I'll be gone
I would not beg for me as I would not beg for you
though I'd like to be the one to see you through

Every step you have taken disappears with the tide
You're torn up and shaken with changing your mind
You haven't got the grace to say you'll finally decide
and you haven't got the strength to stay to fight

Those people who surround you
only want to see you weak enough to crawl
They'll lie for you, decide for you
and buy up all your rights and all your wrongs
And they'll try to stop your singing
in the middle of your song
for they do not want you free
and they will not make you strong
but only drag you down in the hole they're coming from

They say you are foolish for wanting the sun
They call you selfish for learning to run
They'll tell you that the darkness is a blessing in disguise
You never have to notice if you're sighted or you're blind
and they'll do their best to keep you from the light

You're more than beginning, you're learning to fly
Feels like you're falling, but it passes in time
and I hate to see a friend go down in flames without a song
so I'm waiting by the doorway - I will not linger long

I'm leaving by night, I'm leaving alone
Leaving you lie. When you waken I'll be gone
I would not beg for me as I will not beg for you
but I'd like to be the one to see you through

Watercolors
I remember photographs
Watercolors of the past
He turned and said - You ask much of me
Then, when we'd made our peace,
we lay between the sheets
He turned and said - I set you free

Go on, be a hero, be a photograph
Make your own myths
Christ, I hope they last
longer than mine
Wider than the sky we measure time by
Go on, be a hero, I set you free
Your stagehand lovers have conquered me
They'll send you carnations,
while smiling faces look on and applaud
Go on, go on, go 'way from me

I said - Do you wish me dead?
Lip service to books you've read
Articles on how to bed a bird in flight
You called it love - I called it greed
You say - You take what you want
I say - You get what you need

Go on, be a hero, be a man
Make your own destiny if you can
Go find a fence, locate a shell
and hide yourself
Go on, go to hell, go away from me
I need no charity

He said - Come unto me
I am beauty
I am the light
Come unto me
Hold the darkness and stay the night
for I am wonder, I am the heart's delight
Tomorrow we'll fight

Come on, come on, come near to me
Come be my fantasy
We'll talk it over again sometime
I'll send you some flowers
to change your mind,
but for tonight, turn out the light
Hold me -
Come on, come on and set me free
Lend me your charity

Oooh, those lyrics are amazing! I'm going to go listen to the songs. (I've been listening to the Moonlight songlist all day, so I guess it's time for a change... :winky: )
