Stopped by for a reread amd am emotionally shredded right now. You are a wonderful writer but you are cruel! Cruel, I tell you!

This is quite beautiful, but I'm with Grace.

:smooch:

Thanks, jen.

If it's any consolation this is the only thing I have ever written that makes me cry.

Thank you for the reminder of this lovely story. Beautifully sad, but also truly believable. And a perfect use of the song.

Rest in peace, sweet lovers. And for Josef, one more loss... but he will go on because... well, he just does.

How is it that I never read this or commented on it? It is so sad. I make myself cry when I write; so this kind of thing has me sobbing.

I do feel bad for Josef but Mick is right, Josef will forgive him. I wrote a story once where the last vampires of the old crew standing were Josef and Logan some six hundred years in the future. If you live long enough you have to get used to loss.

I should have heeded your warnings. But I just couldn't help myself. So very sad but could very well have happened to them although my heart wishes otherwise.

Beautiful Red. Thank you. :rose:

I am a mess now. But this is so good, I just can't pretend I've never read it, and go on.
I believe they're together, I'm so in love with their romance that this is the only bearable thought. I dream of an eternal future, for them, or at least for a cure that will grant them a lifetime together, mortal to mortal.
But you know, your story is so beautiful, that I just can't be mad at Beth for not choosing to be turned, and I can't be mad at Mick for wanting to be burnt to ashes from the sun. The way you write it, it's just the way it has to be.
I like the fact that Mick is peaceful with his decision, he's not blind from the sorrow, he does what he has to, because he had the lifetime of joy and love he wanted with Beth, and now he can give his soul the peace, the rest he needs.
By the way, you're one of the authors that , when I read english, is really easy to understand better, without re-reading a period, or losing precious seconds trying to understand the meaning. I like to think I'm making progress thanks to you.
For the story in itself....I think you owe me. :giggle: A little something happy and new.

I'm crying my heart out....poor Mick...poor Josef..... :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie:

Reading this again, I have the melody of the song Into Dust in my head and it makes for a great background rhythm for the serene story you wrote. I'm all choking up again, but it's so worth it. :hankie:

Kara, thank you so much. I always console myself with the thought that this is just one possible future. There are SO many others. :rose:

loveyoumick, what an amazing comment. :flowers: Not just one but TWO of the nicest comments I've ever had:
loveyoumick wrote:The way you write it, it's just the way it has to be.
There is no higher compliment.

That's so lovely to hear - all the pretty words in the world mean nothing if they are hard to read and understand.

I do have happy stories in my office, I swear. :comfort2:

francis, this was all written with that melody in the background, and I LOVE your description of this as serene. I'm so flattered - thank you.

This is reread number...I don't know how many times I have read this, but I cry each and every time. All tears are not bad things. Okay, they streak the makeup and do catastrophic things to mascara, but here they are a response to the depth of their love and sadness that life has lead them here, to this place.

Brava, Red. Just brava.

Now, to find some of those happy stories...

Thank you!

Jenna
