No.... this is why I'm worried. I cry at movies all the time but this one just didn't get me. :blushing:
With everything you all told me, I did expect to cry..... and lots..... but no. :tomato:

That is not to say I didn't enjoy this because I did... so very much.... just no tears.

I won't get thrown out of the Alex fangirl club will I? :giggle:

What Red said.

Sometimes if folks give oodles of warnings you just brace yourself so hard that it works out that way.

Yes, coco, it's just that you were warned a bit much. If I had known beforehand and braced myself I wouldn't have cried watching it. But as I stumbled over it on youtube before I knew anything about it (I just searched for an Alex interview), it worked magic.

I'm so relieved my membership is safe. :giggle:

So many familiar faces in this too. I had much fun trying to remember where I'd seen them all before.

I think it's true... if you're expecting something to be heartbreaking, you're kinda prepared...

Plus, to be honest... Alex's death scene was so amazingly, fabulously acted, IMO, that I was riveted by the performance... sad, but so fascinated I was also excited, if that makes sense.
Now when I DID cry like a frikkin child is... when the children died.

Should I have this in spoilers, btw?? I'm happy to add spoilers...

And coco, you couldn't get outta the Alex Fangirl Club if you tried... you're stuck with us for life.

No need for spoilers, Grace. I put a big fat warning at the beginning of the thread.

I cried like a loon when Will died - it was the acceptance of inevitability on his face that just broke me. The kids were just the kicker - I was still blubbing from Will's death when we got to that point.

Despite the no tears :tomato: (I'm throwing them at myself now) I thought the acting from Alex in the death scene was superb. That look is so right, Red. The pause from him before he turned round was so incredible. :clapping:

Edited because I know more words than superb.

But it's also ALLLLL those looks before that... that first look of anger, and should he fight? Then deep sadness and regret, that even if he fights, he knows he's dying anyway. Then reluctant acceptance... and courage, unbelievable manning-up courage in the face of the jealous coward who would shoot him... oh my.

I DO tear up, just thinking of it, I am now, but I end up being knocked so breathless by his face... by all the d@mn emotions that skirt across that face... and by the perfect body language that accompanies every single change in expression.

I so had such new respect for Alex when I saw this movie. I mean I loved Mick... but I hadn't seen anything else he'd done yet... for all I knew, Mick was all he could do.

Turns out, that would be incorrect.

I agree with you, Grace.

The two things I came away loving the most about this movie was Alex and Jack Davenport. Jack always impresses me when i watch him and I loved this character. He played him spot on. Alex blew me away with his performance of Will. MB was the only thing I'd yet to see Alex in and I'd heard so many things about Will but to witness it for myself was awesome. That man can act and he impresses me each and every time. He gives 100% to every role and you can't help but love him as a result.

I got a little choked up with the kids too. That was totally unexpected. I felt more pride for Alex's death scene. He was so brave. But then felt so sad that it turns out he me have lived through the whole thing.
