Tons of fun. Thanks for asking :-) I'll post a link to my photo album on my Facebook page of the whole trip, for those who are interested...... and just to keep this in topic...... I've been thinking of this story all day, coming up with all kinds of ideas on where it might be going. I think it's my favorite ongoing story, right now.

LOL All us die-hard Lucky fans know what Slade's destiny is, so mainly I've been thinking about all the scenarios for his inevitable turning, and whether Sally is aware of what's going on or not. It's been a very fun world to be lost in. Hehe

This is a great update. Sally's thoughts and reactions are believable. I can imagine how Josef is going to keep Slade from falling behind, but I wonder how he's going to keep Sally safe from him. You have your work cut out for you. Penina

You did the fight great, Lucky! Totally edge of my seat... and I loved the visual of Josef seeing the action between Sally and Slade and McCarty in slo mo... we've all had that experience and of COURSE the vampire would!!! You hit the perfect note for Sally... and LOVE that Josef got to enjoy a sip or two on his way to the showdown! Makes me breathe a little easier for him....

I am off now to chapter 10... your birthday present to us, I guess. :clapping:

Could I make a little plea to commenters?

There are some of us reading (and loving) this story who don't know the details of what happens to Slade. It's already been revealed in comments that he survives this current drama (which I would rather not have known) and I'd love to keep as much of the rest of it as possible a surprise.

Thanks!

Cassidy put up a harder fight than he’d have thought, though, twisting in Josef’s grasp like an enraged eel, the whipcord muscles writhing in his desperate attempt to struggle free.
Great imagery! :gasp:

Thank goodness Sally and Slade's walk across the camp was a facade ...the idea of Sally carrying the shovel and digging her own grave is downright creepy.

So nice how Sally thought of all the work involved as she tore her petticoat for bandages; it's a reminder of how much different things were in that time.

And still the tension builds; the atmosphere, the menace of the would-be rapists, the moon, the cloud, the rustle of horses moving through the dark. This really is fabulous, Lucky. Just fabulous.
