The Coffee House has sent me back for a re-read - and this is just as delightful as the first time I read it.

Strangely, I'd forgotten that Sally was only 17 - maybe as a consequence of her level-headedness in later chapters.

The dialogue is superb, the descriptions marvellous and the characters beautifully-drawn. This is an image of Josef that just works.

The Coffee House has sent me here for a lovely discovery! What a wonderful evocation of the time and place. Sally is such an engaging character, and Josef is so purely - Josef! I loved his mentioning the name Sarah when he met Sally, a nice little tidbit of foreshadowing.
