YES. I want a photo frozen of that moment. My God.
Wonderful man. He was so damn good in that film, that he just blew me away.
But, whoa, it made me so sad.

Ladies I want to ask an honest question. I have Mary Bryant but haven't watched it yet. Truth be told I have to be in the right mood to watch a movie that makes me cry. Everyone seems to like it so much I feel I'm missing something but should I hold off until I need a cathartic cry.

So glad you liked the movie, Lisa. Looks like you're holding yourself together a bit better than I did. I was bawling my eyes out by the end. I finished the movie at around 4 A.M. and was crying for at least an hour. :hankie: And I NEVER cry at films.

Carol,

Costume drama really isn't my thing usually - but this is just wonderful. It is gripping, uplifting, funny, heartfelt and wonderful. But, the end (not the very end - because it does end on a somewhat high note) is very, very sad indeed. I can't even think about it without tearing up.

It's worth it - but just, be warned, k?

Watch it. The first part of it, there is a break in between parts, is tear-free. In the second part,I thought that I was doing really well, got teary during a WIll scene towards the end, thought,"well, that wasn't too bad". Then it continued.

I am normally an easy crier--didn't do the ugly cry. But I came close.

Carol, that's such a judgment call. I don't like tearjerkers. I hate movies like "Ordinary People." So I had to really psych myself up to watch Mary Bryant, and I am so incredibly glad I did. Yeah, I cried, but it's just such an amazing story of love, fortitude, and enduring spirit--a story about incredibly imperfect people who make awful mistakes and suffer horrific situations and keep on trying...it will make you feel hopeful despite your tears. And Alex is simply heartstoppingly good in the role of Will.

I fell in love with Mick, and thought Alex was fine, but whatever. Will is the character that made me see what an incredibly good actor Alex is. And that was years ago! What will he be able to do with a really juicy role now, with more seasoning?

I really urge you to watch Mary Bryant. You won't be sorry, I promise.
