Heartbreaking, yet they stayed together.

I'd ike another choice, though. I know, I know--you're the writer and a very good one you are but how about a third alternative--where Beth doesn't die and Mick is left alone.

Just sayin'

I'm with jen on that. :flowers:

Just read this again (this is one of those fics that I read often) and I cry each and every time.

Lovely, but I'd still like that third alternative where Beth doesn't die and Woll agrees with me!

Thanks!

Awwww.... :Mickangel: I just want to comfort Mick, in either scenario... :comfort2:

Just reread this gem again and teared up at the end. I can't envision not crying at the end of this.

I'd still go for the third alternative, but if forced to choose between the two of these, I think I'd prefer the second.

In either case, thank you for writing this!

 I swear I will always come back here. I really do. I am in tears but I can never help it, you know. Maybe it is different for you , who wrote it, but it is always the same for me being here...This possibility of their future is so heartbreaking , yet so much more possible than going through eternity together forever...And , ...no, I cannot choose either / or, I just can't!
THANK YOU

GuardianAngel wrote:I've read this before so I should have been prepared. But it still made me weepy. And, you know what, I can't choose. The first scenario is sweeter with them growing old together. Mick won't have long to live without his Beth. The second would be pure selfishness on my part. I don't want to see Mick age. But how will he go on without her?
What she said. Because I'm too sad to think of things to say to either scenario. But beautifully written.

Thank you. :rose:

Oh, you're welcome! You know, this story has special significance to me--I wrote it the morning of the day we found out about the "Big C" and waited almost two weeks to post because I didn't want to put out a sad story on top of that wound.

Either/or...I cry! It is painfully obvious that in both cases, Mick will cry as well. Wonderful MickBeth stories, Lucky, just heartbreakingly wonderful!

Either way beautiful and poignant their love has reached beyond the physical.

Just read these again and shed a few more tears.

These are each heartbreaking at different levels. In the first, Mick somehow manages to do what Josef claimed impossible--found a way to rejoin the mortal coil and lived a life with his Beth, filled with the joys and sorrows of mortality. They shared a life and were able to grow together through the changes. In the second one, they remained as they were in the Moonlight we remember, eternally circling each other like two stars each caught in the orbit of the other but being unable to get past the differences. Even in that scenario Mick considers the journey, as painful as this parting was, entirely worth it.

Now, where was that box of tissues...
