I do not own any recognizable characters no copyright infringement is intended.

Josef had poured himself a drink. Several drinks. The freshies were trying to help him relax but he was distracted enough to dismiss them for the night.

Mick told him Beth wanted to be turned. She said she was sure. Mick asked though “How can she really be sure? How do you know if someone is vampire material?

Josef smiled. “You think too much Mick. It’s in your gut. You know when a turn is right, you know when it’s wrong.”

Mick frowned. “What about Sarah?

Josef glared at him. “The turning was right. What happened was unfortunate.

“Coraline probably thought she was right.” Mick said softly.

Josef frowned. “Unlikely.”

“Wait a minute. You’re the one who says I have to embrace my inner vampire.

“You do but I don’t think Coraline had a gut feeling about you. She desired something and made it happen. If you decide to turn Beth….the actual turning. Do it fast. Keep it short. Don’t have some long drawn out romantic evening. Kick her body into overdrive.

“Why?”

“Because that’s the one thing I did different with Sarah. She wasn’t afraid to die. There was no pain, no fear, no survival instinct. Everyone else I ever turned was terrified. Think back to the night you died, how did you feel?

“Scared out of my mind.”

“That’s what you want for Beth. Trust me.

Mick frowned “I have to think about it.”

Josef waved him off. “Fine. Let me know what you decide.

Josef sipped his scotch. Beth was a natural vampire. Mick shouldn’t have anything to worry about if he listed to his pseudo-sire. Do it fast. Keep it short.

Really, really wonderful look at Josef's thought processes. I hope Mick takes his advice. :fingerscrossed:

I love this one. It really sounds like Josef's thoughts... and your theory makes sense to me. Josef would have spent 50 years turning it over and over in his mind. What was different with Sarah? And how could he help Mick avoid the same horrible outcome? Sometimes brutality is the kindest thing. :sigh:

Another great look at Josef's innermost thoughts. I agree that he has spent decades pondering why his turning of Sarah went wrong, and wanting to help Mick avoid the tragedy he endured. (And he's right--Beth will be a great vampire.)

Great reread for this one! I imagine that Mick would have planned the long, drawn out romantic evening turning for Beth. It would be hard for him to purposely make Beth terrified of dying and becoming a vampire. He'll be torn making this decision!

I would love to read Mick's thoughts after this conversation. It would be so hard to inflict pain and terror on his Beth, but what if Josef is right? :Mickangel:
