The difference in pronunciation bothered me a bit in this scene. I guess at that point they were rushing--or maybe they filmed that scene early, before they'd decided exactly how to pronounce the name? Actually, there's one time in this ep (sorry, not sure exactly where--I'm at work and don't have my DVD with me, darn it) where Mick pronounces her name so that it rhymes with "wine". I was surprised they didn't loop that specific line to fix it...

Mick usually said COR a leen... and following his lead, so did Beth... I thought maybe the pronunciation difference was that Mick was American and Josef European... but I didn't notice Mick saying CoraLINE... will have to go back and re watch and see if I can catch that!!!

*soooo excited that Alle has given an excuse to go back and re watch *

I honestly hadn't caught that. But, hey, Mick pronounces Josef different from everyone else.

I've caught that too, GA. Even in interviews, Alex always said it JoSEF. Not sure why though. An Aussie thing perhaps? Trying to make it sound more European maybe?

I dunno, but just for the record, I thought it was cute...

You do see it in fic (and snark), too, where some of the writers picked up on that and started having Mick say "Joz'f" or some such in dialogue.

Years ago we had a Hungarian neighbor whose name was spelled "Josef" and pronounced like Mick says it, "JoSEF". (Though sometimes I think Mick says "JoZEF", with a Z.) My guess is it's European.

I say "Cora LEEN". I had not really noticed that Mick says "COR a leen". But I wonder if that is because Jason is American, and Alex is Australian speaking in an American accent?

Just throwing my two cents out there. 8-)

I like the way Mick says Josef. Makes it sound so much more exotic. And it seems to suit the man.

I like the way Mick says everything... but that's no surprise... but speaking of everything and anything...

Both Alex and Sophia... tho more often Sophia... sometimes pronounced anything as "anythin"... Alex did it I think in BC... when he slugged down the scotch after slugging down Lola... Sophia did it in this ep... at Mick's office with Morgan... telling Mick to go to her apartment and see if he can find "anythin"...

Not that I care... just that I noticed... :snicker:

I liked the Jo-SEF pronunciation - just because it was different from the way everyone else said it; made it seem like he was close enough to Josef to know the proper way, the old way, not the modernised version.

As for Coraline, the only person who speaks her name in my head is Mick, so, that's the one that works for me....

Oh yeah... loved the way he said her name... deep voice... always with emotion... what would any of us give to hear him say OUR name, juuuuuust to hear him say it.... :cloud9:

Ok... Grace will TRY to swim out of the shallow end of the pool now... emphasis on the try...

This is the first episode where we know that Josef knows all about Beth being kidnapped by Coraline and Mick rescuing her. But I in NSTV, Josef did not know that Beth Turner was that child.

I would think that Mick shared with Josef that he killed his wife and why. But when? And when do you think Mick filled him in on the fact that Beth Turner was THAT Beth Turner.

Damn, but I would have loved to have been there for that scene. I'm sure Josef had a few things to say about Mick's obsession with her.

Beth and Morgan are going over the fire photos at Buzzwire. Maureen comes in to see what they're up to.

Image

Beth is thinking of doing a story on the fire. Maureen doesn't think its exciting enough. She wants a celebrity or dead body to perk it up. Hmmm......
Beth comments that Mo always goes for the lowest common denominator but she'll work on her.

Image

Morgan thanks Beth for the support. Beth says its no big deal, anything to keep her away from restuarants and fashion shows.

Image

Image

Beth notices that Morgan has a wound on her arm.

Image

Morgan tells her that someone broke in her house and they scuffled. He stabbed her. It's not bad, though. Just a couple stitches.

Image

Beth was surprised that Morgan fought him, but hey, he was taking her cameras. Beth asked if she called the police.

Image

She says yes but they acted like they had more important things to do. But she would love to get her hands on the punk.

Image

And never mind getting her cameras back. Morgan has an idea. She asks Beth what about her PI friend. Beth seems started. I'm guessing she'd be very happy if these two never cross paths again.

Image

Image

Beth says that she didn't think Morgan was very impressed by him. She replies that he was persistant.

Image

Image

Next we see Beth walking down Mick's hallway and knocking on the door to his office.

Image

Mick opens the door and Beth breezes in saying that she figured he be up. He says she knows him all too well.

Image

A sound or a scent must alert him. He turns and Morgan is at the door.

Image

She enters and Beth explains that Morgan needs Mick's help. He's a little shell shocked.

Image

Morgan goes through the story. She says she had jewelry out but the thief only took her cameras.

Image

Which is why she attacked him. Those cameras were expensive.

Image

Mick confirms that she attacked the thief. Beth is watching him as he watches Morgan. Morgan says she had mace. Which was just enough to piss the guy off. he stabbed her with a letter opener. Mick does a subtle sniff.

Image

Image

Image

Beth tells Mick that Morgan needs her cameras back. Morgans tells him that Beth says he's the best. Mick's reaction always confuses me here. He answers, "She did, huh?" Like he's annoyed with Beth. Beth says defensively that she's said it several times.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Mick stares at Morgan. She stares back.

Image

Image

Beth suggests that Mick go by Morgan's place, take a look around (brave, brave girl)

Image

Morgan adds that, if it helps, she can identify the guy. She never forgets a face.

Image

We flashback to the party where Mick met Coraline. She beckons to him and he goes to her.

Image

Image

She asks if he can play something to get 'this snore on its feet'.

Image

Image

'Like what?' he asks. She makes a couple suggestions. She wants something with more rhythm. He doesn't know if that crowd will like the devil's music.

Image

Image

That's the point. He makes a suggestion. She wants him to play Ain't That Just Like a Woman.

Image

Mick agrees. On one condition. Coraline tells him her name. He smiles, he didn't say what the condition was. She says that's always the condition.

Image

Image

She gives him a kiss on the cheek and walks away. He watches her leave.

I'm sorry...I have absolutely nothing of substance to add right now because I'm just blown away by how absolutely beautiful this man is.

And - there's incredible heat between Morgan and Mick when Beth brings Morgan to Mick's office. Beth can sense it and she does. not. like. it. I'm a big Beth girl, but I think she acts like a petulant child in that scene.
