Thanks so much, JJRose. This chapter was all about Josef and Beth so your comments have made me extremely happy. And this:
JJRose wrote:...and then so carefully, codedly, telling Josef that if the choice is her or Mick then he knows what to do.
was the key moment - I'm glad it rang true. Beth has certainly coped with their circumstances better than Mick. And she understands his relationship with Josef better than either of them, I think.

Moonlightsonata, thanks for keeping an eye out for this story. Ch. 10 is with my beta so it should be up later tonight or tomorrow.

I'm going to echo Mick here and ask Josef what the hell is going on too...

I can't wait to see how you're going to resolve all this in just three more chapters.

This:
"We'll have you home in no time, Mr. Campbell."

"I live-"

"Paul has the address."

"Oh. Well then. Thank you, I guess. How-"

"Must you speak?" Josef's withering tone stopped Pete's questioning.
Thank you for sticking that bit of humor in there...

Why do I have the awful, sick feeling that Josef is going to die in this story? Oh god...*sobs* Runs blindly forward to keep reading. :chair:

Can't have Josef without a little snark... it just wouldn't be right.

That scene with Beth and Josef is just one of the best Josef moments ever.
I'm not quite sure how you made Josef so terrifyingly dangerous - and so totally vulnerable - both - within just a few lines.
Amazing ....

Josef is doing his best to work things out. He hates to lose and he genuinely cares about Mick and Beth.

Lazlo is absolutely chilling. Dispassionately uncaring.

This is fabulous!

I've always wanted to do more with Laszlo - I'm trying to work him into a new story - he was such fun to write.

You had me at ''desperate, dangerous hope'' . I couldn't have imagined those three words coming out of the thoughts of Josef! And this was what this chapter was all about...A cloud of fear lingers on top of it all, and I never ever expected to see Josef so at a loss!

Lazlo was very appealing, a powerful mysterious vampire, thousand years old..talk about history. He seemed to be treating Josef with mutual respect , but in fact he played him like a kid..is that a game Josef cannot win, or will he turn the tables?
