I am thoroughly speechless. That was absolutely fabulous. You are most skillfull in weaving a story, creating ambiance and then delivering an ending that was hinted at about halfway in.

Masterfully done. I don't think I know enough really good adjectives to d this justice.

Thanks!

[You aren't thinking about another story bringing Josef back, are you? hint, hint)

Oh, alle. Thank you. :rose:  :rose:

My relief knows no bounds. I'm glad I got you doubting the outcome - that was my intent but it was a real challenge to get to the end with open possibilities and still have it all make sense.

You're spot on about the letters, both in terms of Josef subtly exhorting Mick to turn Beth and that this is a passing of the torch from Josef to Mick. Time for him to become the leader, with Beth at his side.

And finally, to be called a storyteller, well, you have no idea how thrilled, absolutely thrilled, that makes me.

Thank you so, so much.

ETA: you were my banker for the opera - any guesses?

Thanks, jen. I really appreciate it. And no, Josef's gone for good and this is definitely the end of this particular story.

No.

Time for a clue perhaps. We've had German and Italian - but the opera in question is French. Not the composer's most famous either ('cos his most famous is the big daddy).

Well, I can't say that I doubted where this was bound to go, but it was still REALLY painful to read. No torches and pitch forks, but you'll forgive me if I don't spend a whole lot of time gushing over the love birds. I'm afraid I've got to excuse myself to go put on a black dress and spend the next year in mourning. :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie: :hankie:

This is what I get for opening the final chapter to see how something ends before I read it.

Red... how could you? Image

(And the only opera I can think of is La Boheme with J as Mimi)

Lisa, it is indeed....

eris, GAH!! How can you do that? I have no idea if that means you'll go back to the beginning or not, but either way, thanks for checking it out! (And see Lisa's answer re the opera - she's on the right track.).

Good Lord, I'm inundated. I'll leave the two of you to come up with a prompt together, how's that (Lisa did the groundwork after all)?
