As for the promo shots vs. screencaps, I would have to say that most screencaps wouldn't be in such great HD quality. By having a photographer on set to take some snaps for promo, they can use those great high quality cameras which give us those amazing drool-worthy close-ups. And as for why they can't just shoot while the scene is being filmed, I would say that the flash would interfere with that happening.

There are a bunch of promo shots from Fever expecially where you could tell they had been done during rehearsals/tun-throughs. Personally, I was tickled pink that we even had promo shots for each episode. Quite a few shows out there in TV-land don't have that. Can you imagine what we would have lost out on (pic-wise) if WB hadn't allowed those HD episode shots?? :shock:

And going back to the beach pic (drools), shall we get into a discussion about boxer briefs? That line across his thigh (more drooling) must be from undies, yeah? So my vote is for boxer briefs.
