Click Mick is so beautiful . . . :melts:

And this promo pic is just the perfect shot of Mick. :happysigh: We don't get to see too many pictures of him head-to-toe!

There are a couple of promo pics in our Gallery that show Mick head to toe... one with each of his women.

He doesn't look too comfortable with Coraline hanging on his lapels. :snicker:

Interesting difference between the two - they have Mick sort of separated from Beth, but Coraline's hanging on for dear life. Even the promo pics tell a story, don't they? :hearts:

He seems to have that "deer in the headlights" kind of look with Coraline.

They really do! With Beth he looks big and protective, but very separate. And Beth looks self-assured, as if she doesn't need anybody to prop her up. Whereas with Coraline, he's got a bit of a "deer in the headlights" look, and she is holding onto him.

ETA: MLC, you saw the same look! :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

It's very interesting to contrast that pic of Mick and Coraline with this wedding picture, where they look very much in love, although she still has quite a grip on the guy...

I LOOOOOVE that promo pic. :cloud9:

I find it interesting that even though Mick's got that semi-smile on his face and his head is leaning toward Coraline, he's not touching her, whereas she's holding on for dear life. :chin:

He has his hands around her waist, holding her in a loving way, whereas she grips him like iron as if afraid he might run.

To me, it's more that she is the stronger one of the pair. She is holding him in a very controlling way, although in his ignorance of the truth, he probably interprets it as love and passion. He's just a blissed-out guy on his wedding day, totally unaware of how powerful she really is. I think they did a wonderful job of portraying the dynamic(s) between Mick and Coraline, and Mick and Beth, in these promo pics. The passion between Mick and Cora is sizzling, but the terrible tragedy is obvious if you know what to look for. And in his pictures with Beth, he holds himself separate from her--he's definitely her guardian angel, not her lover in these. The "difficult dangerous and complicated" gulf between Mick and Beth is very evident, as well.

Poor vamp... he never did have it easy with his women, did he? :Mickangel:

Alle, that second one illustrates perfectly how Mick sees himself in regards to Beth. He's tucked in super close to her, amost but not quite touching her...sort of like he tucked himself up against her in Love Lasts Forever. :hearts:

Great insights on the difference in the photos of Mick and his women. :snicker: And the difference between the two photos of him and Coraline is very telling. Before she turns him he looks happy and loving, then in the modern day one he looks almost frightened. :rolling: As far as my personal take goes, I see more chemistry between Mick and Beth even if his arms aren't around her, than with Cora. No matter how much I try to see it I can't picture Mick and Cora together. They don't look right together to me. Never will I guess. Of course, I am a big MickBeth girl. :yahoo:

What I loved most about Moonlight was that it wasn't at all a simple story. Nor were the characters simple. You can't force any one of them into a neat little box. Mick's not universally heroic by any means, and often makes horrible choices. Beth and Coraline are both colossally damaged souls who are nonetheless strong, courageous women. Josef is by no means the shallow, flippant person he pretends to be. Even the lesser characters have amazing depth and texture.

That's what made the show amazing. You can find in it whatever you like. Personally, I like the fact that Mick had amazing chemistry with such different women. And add Lilah in there too, because holy heck, that was an immensely emotional relationship as well (and with a strong, competent, damaged woman, hmm... our guy's got a bit of a pattern going.) :snicker:

Mick is cool, hot, frazzled, impatient, cruel, loving, stupid, brilliant, angsty, funny, tragic... All of that, and so very much more. That's why we've got 29 threads devoted to him.

What a perfect description, Alle. :happysigh:

Trevor Morris said something of the kind about writing the music for Moonlight - I can't find the quote now, but it was something along the line of how Moonlight "pretended to be" a detective/crime story, but had so much more depth and complexity.

Very true. And I forgot about Lilah. They had a little chemistry as well. :smooch: Don't think I'll ever see it between Mick and his "ex" though. Sorry. Funny how the word divorce was never mentioned...in the show at least. And yes, Moonlight was so much more than a simple vampire P.I. show. I'm just sorry a few more million people didn't see it that way. :hearts:

I guess that's what I was trying to say. It's so very possible to see different things depending on your POV... and that is part of what makes it so compelling, to me. And yeah... if not for the writers' strike, if not for the fact it was on Friday nights, if only a few million more people had jumped on the bandwagon, if only negotiations had gone more smoothly.... :Mickangel:

But we're so lucky. We got something wonderful, and nobody can take that away. And we're still here, still finding stuff to talk about, nearly 5 years later. :ghug: :hearts: :ghug:
