The Switch opened this weekend (the Jennifer Aniston movie with a similar theme). Weekend box office: $9m.
The Back-Up Plan's opening weekend: $12.2m.
Just sayin'.

"Eat my dust!"
Better, grace?
ETA: BTW, anyone have any experience with Amazon pre-orders? Just wondering if they'll ship it to arrive on release date, or if they wait until the release date to ship it. Inquiring minds want to know....

Also, the ads on TV say the DVD release date is Aug. 24... isn't that Alex's birthday? Could it be that CBS publicity is finally catching the fan wave?

Don't know about Amazon, HM, but Barnes and Noble has it arrive the day of the release. My guess is Amazon would as well.

Yay! Thanks, dsr... I didn't get to see it in the theaters, so I'm anxiously awaiting arrival.

I bet you are and think you are going to be happy with your purchase.
Amazon usually does have it arrive on your doorstop the date of the release.

The Switch ranked 8th in the box office. It will be interesting to see the dvd sales of BUP.

Beaten out by Nanny McPhee, no less....
The review of 'The Switch' that I read wasn't kind, and compared it to BUP, which the reviewer didn't like either. What put BUP over Switch, in his mind (note, it was a male reviewer, notoriously dismissive of romcoms), was that BUP dealt with the relationship between Zoe and Stan and the realities of going through a pregnancy (although the reviewer did wonder why Stan would stay with a woman who ate greasy chicken in bed). He found it amazing that Jennifer Anniston's character was never shown pregnant and that her leading man (Jason Bateman) was anything but. 'The Switch' was more about the father and son than about the man and woman.
One other thing to note - the Switch opened in about 2000 theaters, as opposed to 3200 for BUP, so normalizing the difference, the opening take is about the same.

I ordered BUP from Barnes and Noble and expect it to arrive tomorrow....just for grins, I checked BUP's sales ranking at B&N and found it to be 101....for further grins, I checked ML and found it to be at 83....no sure whether BUP is influencing ML sales or whether people finding it on the CW this summer are buying it.
Maybe both, but either way, it's good news for ML

I'm so envious!
Please give a full description of the (I hope) copious extras when you get your copies. Had one of those -cha-ching - dental emergencie$ last week and I think I'll be waiting til BUP is marked down a few times before I order it.
