I found this MediaLifeMagazine article to be very interesting. Must be nice to be in such a position that you're considering cancelling a few shows that still get good ratings but are lacking the huge numbers like other shows. Cold Case and Without a Trace have performed admirably in their time slots, with the shows in the Top 20 for the week. Yet they are in contention for being cancelled because they are not performing well in the demographics, or their ensemble casts are too expensive. Yeah, must be nice! The two shows have some serious fans who've hung with them for years. I won't wish any of them to die as a result of CBS wanting and expecting more from their shows. Heck, the other networks would kill for the very shows that CBS is considering dropping. But having been there this time last year, I won't pick and choose which ones I want to see cancelled. As a fan, I could never wish that feeling on another. Yet I want Three Rivers to be picked up in the badest of ways. So I sit. And wait....wait...wait...wait. :?

That is really funny! Is that why they call CBS the Cone of Silence? How on earth did you ever find that Sister M????? :snicker:
I looked it up! :snicker: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cone_of_Silence I can barely remember Get Smart, but I do recall Dad finding it pretty hysterical!

I to feel bad for the fans of these shows, but they had a few years for their favorites. How many shows like Moonlight, get a fan base, and their shows get knocked off before most viewers ever even heard of the shows, I guess all is fair in love and TV. Still CBS is looking at cost, these shows have had their day, and they are not going to grew new audiences. Just MOI, but CBS is going to have some trouble next year with some of their hit shows, the CSI's are getting old, and I swear if I see David Caruso (?) take those sunglasses on and off one more time I will lose it, sorry for all you fans of his out there. Again it is the cost of shows, and right now CBS could be thinking not at this moment, but a year down the road.

And here we go again:

A somewhat clearer picture of the new shows likely to wind up on your TV screen -- and what won't -- is starting to emerge ahead of next week's upfronts.

The latest speculation in the trades and online has started coalescing around a few shows at each network: ABC once again looks like it will pick up more series than anyone else, while FOX is being more selective, CBS is looking for its usual mix and The CW closing in on a couple dramas. Here's a network-by-network rundown (we're leaving NBC out, since it's likely not to add many more new shows when it announces its schedule on Tuesday).

CBS

Contenders: Not much new from the network most disciplined about keeping leaks to a minimum. The "NCIS" spinoff is a virtual lock, and "The Good Wife" (Julianna Margulies) and "Three Rivers" (Alex O'Loughlin) have pretty good buzz too. On the comedy side, "Accidentally on Purpose" (Jenna Elfman) still looks strong, with "Waiting to Die" and "Happiness Isn't Everything" also in the lead pack.

Naturally, CBS is the tight-lipped network! :mob:

Things are starting to pop over at CBS. They're beginning to officially pass on pilots. The first one--"A Marriage". This one was in nobody's radar screen so it's no surprise.

A Marriage.... :wtf:

Never heard of it. Is it a drama or a comedy? Cuz that's going to make a huge difference in Three Rivers chances....

Edited to Add: Okay, this is what Nikki had to say about A Marriage back on May 7th...

A MARRIAGE (Bedford Falls) is a drama from Zwick & Herskovitz and has no heat.

So I'm seriously beginning to doubt her "sources" in this mess.

Edited Yet Again....cuz I'm a doofus! :snicker: I misread the dang thing and thought they had picked up A Marriage...not that they had PASSED....

"A Marriage" was one of the dramas ordered. The description was: The anatomy of a a couple’s marriage. CBS ordered 11 drama pilots, so they still have 10 in contention.
