It's not the worst review. And frankly, how much can you tell from reading a script? There are some fab scripts written that end up sucking on screen and some bland/mediocre scripts that come alive with the right people delivering the lines.

I think for 3R, it would all come down to how good the writers are. There really are limitations on how you can tell a donor/recipient story. So how could the writers liven that up? Maybe by providing interesting personal stories for the regular cast members.

Too many...

These seem to be mostly opinions looking for hits (we ML fans are used to that). The lady with the schedules; I would think anybody really in the know would not be passing out specific info to some housewife to put out on the net. The risk for the "leaker" would be too great!

It also sounds like she went with the more obvious winners to be safe.

Remember, many of the better known sources actually in the business liked it and give it a good chance.

That said, we've been nastily burned before and dread that fallout once again. If the worst happens, we need to show support for Alex and send the love his way!

I'm actually glad Amy posted this. It will stop me getting too cocky. I agree that it could be way too premature for them to have schedules considering some pilots aren't even finished shooting yet. BUT we've been getting some positive buzz lately about TR and this helps keep us in the real world and makes us remember there's a lot of competition out there.

It's very hard to know what will happen with a few of the old shows like Cold Case and Without a Trace. Are they too expensive to produce, or will the established actors accept pay cuts to stay employed? Will CBS prefer new material, or will they stay with what they know works for their audience? It's so hard to try and predict. We'll just have to wait until we hear definitely and try not to get our hopes up too much, or be cast down by negative vibes either. I like to think that if TR doesn't get picked up that Alex will be cast elsewhere. CBS has paid him for a year; I imagine they will want to collect somewhere. If not, we definitely have TBUP to look forward to until he can get a new TV show, wherever or whenever it may be. And we have Whiteout as well. That's definite.

Thanks, Moonmad, for your analysis. My main reason for posting the blog was what you mentioned in your second sentence. I don't want us (me included) to get our hopes so high they are dashed to the ground if TR does not get picked up. If nothing else, that blog is a check on reality. Right now CBS is doing everything right. It is the #1 network in terms of viewers; it's #2 in the 18-49 demographics (Fox being first largely because of American Idol). They may very well stick with what they have and cancel only a couple of dramas (I'm betting on The Unit and Cold Case or Eleventh Hour). We already know NCIS: Legend will be one of the new shows so that would leave only one slot to fill and they have 11 drama pilots to choose from. I pray they open up more slots (maybe cancel both Cold Case and Eleventh Hour) that would give TR a stronger chance of making it. CBS seems to be high on The Good Wife (mainly because of its cast with Julianna Margulies, Chris Noth and Christine Baranski--all known names to TV audiences) but I think TR would then be third (with Alex and Katherine Moennig).

Bottom line is keep our ears to the ground to see which shows are picked up and do the math from there. We probably won't hear much until that last week just before the upfront on May 20. BTW, the upfront is being webcast and they will be inviting current stars (you bet your bippy Simon Baker will be there) as well as new stars (fingers crossed). Wouldn't it be loverly to see both Simon and Alex strutting their stuff on that Carnegie stage, beautiful Aussie boys they are?

Last year's experience has taught us to be cautiously optimistic. But the signs are very positive.
Assuming that CBS is serious about a new medical show, they haven't had one since Chicago Hope (very good, btw), TR's chances are excellent.
When do we expect some inside info to start leaking out? When will Alex know for sure about his show? I remember reading that he was filming Whiteout in Canada when he got the call about ML being picked up.

I would think, dc, that we would start to hear some info leaking out any time. The entertainment outlets usually cover the prospective pilots and give odds as to which may be picked up.

With the cast they have assembled, I really feel positive about the chances of this being picked up.

It doesn't say that they're in any particular order and that list is pretty much the whole lot that CBS ordered to pilot with a few exceptions (Miami Trauma, House Rules, The Karenskys and The Big D - possibly one or two more).

I've never heard of BuzzSugar before either. Is the name familiar to anyone else?

PICS & POLL: 16 shows we'd like to see next season

We've already asked you to weigh in on which current shows you'd like to see come back next season, and now we'd like you to tell us which new shows you'd watch.

Based on the response to our gallery of pilot stars, we're guessing that the Alex O'Loughlin-starring medical drama "Three Rivers" is a pretty safe bet to get a lot of yes votes.

But what about the others? We've picked 16 shows that we hope will see the light of day once pilot season is over and the networks announce their lineups at the upfronts (NBC goes first next week, while the other networks wait till the week of May 18). Our list doesn't include what we consider to be virtual locks, such as the "NCIS" spinoff at CBS, The CW's "Melrose Place" remake and ABC's "Flash Forward," which will reportedly get its first on-air promos during "Lost" on Wednesday.

So take a look for yourselves, vote in the polls and come on back here to discuss our picks and any other pilots you're curious to see next season.

Everytime I see some list of the shows on the bubble, the list changes. I've seen Numb3rs, Without a Trace, and maybe Flashpoint being mentioned before. Even one of the CSIs is possibly on the block, the main one CSI: Vegas... Lawrence Fishburn didn't bring in the audience that left along with William Peterson.

I'm hopeful that one of the medical pilots will be on the CBS lineup, but which one? The buzz from 3R may be self-generated. Anyone heard of the buzz coming from Miami Trauma lately? Not me.
