You don't have to be a Cora fan... and in this scene he doesn't go back to her so she's no threat to Beth or MickBeth fans... but the way the actors played the scene, it was like an old married couple... which is exactly what they are, appearances of being so young aside. They have been to hell and back with each other and been together for nearly half a mortal lifetime...
They acted in this scene just like two old married people would. Comfortable, no impressing, no trying... quiet, just being. They can say anything to one another, no putting on a best face...
They knew each other's secrets, disappointments and desires... and the fighting's over.
I found it such a touching scene.

LOL!
You know you all love me just the way I am!
I am not gonna disagree with my gracie-poo, I get where she is coming from. It all depends on how you view that particular relationship, imo, that colors your perception of that scene. That, and the fact that as much as I didn't like Cora, I was hoping for more of her in season 2--if only to add to the dynamic of the Mick/Beth relationship. Then we would have determined whether or not her motives were true or she was playing Mick like she always had.
A second season hopefully, would have delved deeper into all of that. And I think we can all agree on wanting that.
Even Mick appears to be mulling that one over:

Yes and he seems to be tending toward agreement, Cherie. But then, you probably TOLD him telepathically to agree, didn't you?

If I could communicate telepathically with the man, telling him to agree wouldn't even make the top 20
Unless I wanted him to agree to.....never mind.
