Mick really should tell Beth more than just snippets. It's dangerous without information in the vampire world. I'm glad he met Gerald and is on good terms with him.

I really enjoyed this story. Looking forward to the next part and curious what else they will see in the Big Apple. :hearts:

Thank you so much!

If you think of the vampire world as a vast, deep ocean, Mick and Beth have been surfing and occasionally snorkling in shallow water.

There are a LOT of depths that are unexplored, and some of them contain scarey stuff. There are beautiful things there for them both, but there are dangers, too.

Thank you so much for reading and leaving the lovely note!!!

Thank you so much!

This was so much fun to write and in the course of this story I learned a few things about writing and editing! It is a nearly never ending process for me.

I appreciate your reading and kind words more than I can tell!

am totally loving the vampire-lore in this fic, Jen, and you've created a really interesting set up for the final two chaps. Could the worm be about to turn and some trouble find our Big Apple hero and heroine? I guess I'll just have to tune in to tomorrow's exciting episode.... :snicker:

How right you are!

Mick and Beth are looking for a restful little interlude, and a bit of fun but things are about to put that plan on hold for a while.

Thank you so much for reading and leaving the lovely comment!

Don't know what got me onto editing this today, but I did. Hope the process helped. Sometimes it doesn't.

I love this look at what could have been. :cloud9: I'm so glad that Beth decided to get out of the cab and take a chance. I also like how you chose to mention, both at the beginning of the story and at the end of the story, that there is always something getting in the way of Mick and Beth's relationship:
jen wrote:He closed the car door after she got into the taxi, then pressed his splayed fingers against the window. Placing her hand against the inside of the glass, she thought that simple gesture summed up their strange relationship -- trying to connect somehow but always separated by… something.
jen wrote:Smiling to himself, Mick stood for several seconds gazing at the closed door and sensing Beth‘s just on the other side and felt a bit of Dejà vu: Beth on one side while he was on the other and there a barrier in between--just like the taxi.
jen wrote:When I wrote the character of the leader of the New York Tribe, who I saw in my mind was the actor who played Josef Kostan in the original unaired pilot for Moonlight when Mick lived in New York and was a jazz trumpet player in the late 40's when he was turned.
 That actor would be perfect to play Gerard Nottingham!

The 'kiss and run' was wonderful! :hearts:

Thank you, Jenna! Nicely done! :rose:

I'll be back tomorrow to read chapter two! :type:

Thank you so much for reading and leaving the lovely comment!

I truly think that I started imagining the character of Gerard Nottingham shortly after I saw that unaired pilot. While I much prefer Jason Dohring's interpretation and interaction with Mick, the older actor put a totally different spin on the relationship dynamic and Gerard brought some of that back.

So glad you enjoyed!!!!

Thank you so much Cassy!!

There has been a lot of speculation on the New York date that never happened at the end of SB.

Appreciate the bump up!

This is very interesting. I love how much of the ambiance of the NY vampire culture you include, it's deliciously suave and dangerous at the same time. I would love to read more.

Thank you so much, Francis!!!

It seemed somehow logical that just as different cities have a different ambiance and feel, the vampire cultures would also be flavored differently. L.A. had a Southern California feel to it--i.e., a blend of high tech, glitze and reflected a fast paced glamour that we saw on the show. New York has a different feel to it. There is more history here and a bit if a darker, grittier feel. Its more crowded and yet the shadows hold similar surprises.

Glad you think this worked!!!!!
