Redwinter, this was truly a special moment and you captured Mick's mindset perfectly. He took a risk because he found Coraline to be a full-blooded woman, not a toy, not a damsel in distress, and certainly not a girl. Maybe he was searching for someone strong enough to handle him, someone he could lean on to for a change. She played him, and maybe he wanted to be played, not be the one in control all the time. But it backfired, heavily.
The comments of your readers are as clever as your story is. I enjoy this discussion a lot.

Ok...I was so NOT going to read this before I got my own challenge fic up...but I couldn't resist. This was just a lovely little bit of deliciousness.

This...is Mick. It's exactly Mick. He knows Coraline's WAY out of his league, but he's going for it anyway.

This literally makes my mouth water. It's like letting a rich velvety chocolate melt in your mouth...it's sooo good, you want it to last forever. That's the visual I get here.
redwinter101 wrote:So she thinks she's got my number. But if she's chasing, and man she is chasing, she's gotta want it too.
Oh. Yeah. :melts: No disbelief over the fact that this high-class woman wants him, just that cocky arrogance that makes me all warm and squishy inside. Most guys would trip over their own feet if a woman like that paid them any mind, but not our Mick.
redwinter101 wrote:She's not a girl. Not a sweetheart. Not a one-night stand. Not a lover, yet. But she's all woman.
Damn straight.
redwinter101 wrote:Because we all know where this is gonna end.
Oh Mick...if only you'd known. Then again...would he still have gone there? :chin:

SO good, Red.

The little voice inside is screaming at me not to fumble with the zipper. Smooth and slow, Mick. Smooth and slow.
Love this quote, Mick trying to be all cool...but inside nervous and worried he's going to mess up undoing zipper. :happysigh:

Brilliant touch Red

Loved it

cassysj, it seemed a little harsh - but Coraline had Mick's measure and knew it wouldn't deter him. I completely agree that Mick would not be the Mick we love without Coraline and everything that happened between them. That's not to say he wouldn't have been happier, but that's something we can only imagine.

Lucky, yeah Mick had that look in his eye - no way was he making ANY safety checks before diving in head first. Thanks for the read and the super comment. :smooch:
francis wrote:She played him, and maybe he wanted to be played
That's SO perfect, francis. I couldn't agree more. Add that to his self-image as a bit of a player, and all kinds of trouble was always going to ensue. And       on my amazing readers and commenters. :ghug:

PNWgal, when you pull out the chocolate analogies, I know I've got something right. :smooch: And double YAY on your challenge fic. *waits impatiently*

JKsGirl, thanks SO much. I love it when a detail rings true. :hearts: :hearts:

A-hem. I just had a very, very wicked moment. That is a wonderful line that I want to steal. Hard.
redwinter101 wrote:"You don't even know my name."

"Do I need to?"
Great banter here
redwinter101 wrote:The world could end right this very second and I wouldn't notice.
This is Mick's attitude toward Coraline all over - until his world does just that.

AussieJo, thank you :hearts: and how right you are - Mick just had no idea how extreme those two things were going to be.

MoonShadow, how lovely to see you. Thanks so much for reading and leaving such a super comment.

rijane, :curtesy: thank you - and feel free to steal. Just remember me when you're rich and famous. I can't take any credit for the dialogue - it's all from the show. And you're absolutely right - it is great.

My favourite line has already been quoted a few times, but I just have to do it again. I'm sorry.

Everyone has said pretty much exactly what I wanted. The title though -- fantastic. It certainly was the fall of this particular man, and I think even up through Episode 16 of Moonlight, he was still falling in one way or another.

Thanks, Moonlighter - and I so agree about Mick falling. I have this image of him hanging on by his fingernails... when all he really needed to do was let go.

So much truth and so many lies in just one shot! Poor Mick, he knew she was too much to handle and thought he could handle her..he thought he knew where this was going to end..

Beautiful story telling of the beginning of a long journey for all involved! :rose:

:thud: What a title!

Poor guy.

He had absolutely no idea what he was really getting into...and at that moment, he didn't care.

A really scarey example of the old, 'be careful what you wish for, you might just get it' warning.

Yikes :eek2:

Mick definitely fell for Coraline. There was so much passion between them right from the beginning.
