YEA!! You finally took the plunge!!

What a beautiful story, Jenna! You've captured the need Mick has to be with Beth. He's reluctant about turning, but when it looks as though she may be taken from him, all bets are off. Only the voice of reason and sanity in the form of Josef keep him from doing something foolhardy.

This passage sums it all up.
A vampire can tell when the sun rises, even if you are in a room without windows. Maybe the air changes. I don’t know. All I was sure of was that a new day had started. Then I turned my head and looked into Beth’s beautiful blue eyes. The world shifted again, only this time it righted itself.
“Hey,” she said in that breathy, low pitched voice that I adore. “Sorry about this weekend.”

“Hey,” I replied, feeling absolutely giddy with relief. “S’okay. There will be others. Lots and lots of others.”
May there be many more others from you!!

Once again, thank you so much for your kind words that mean even more because they are coming from you!. You definitely picked up on precisely what I was trying to say--Mick needs Beth. In fact, they need each other. At some point it has moved past wanting to be together or even being in love to a deep, primal need.

This is wonderful! I almost died with Mick when I heard of the accident and how much damage there was. He will need to turn her to keep her from scaring the crap out of him again and again. And Josef is such a good friend. I love how he stopped Mick with one subsonic word. And Josef took care that there would have been a chance to turn her anyway without exposing the community.
I love this story.

Welcome our fledgling author! What a fantastic story!
jen wrote: Have you noticed how, from time to time, a strongly held opinion can change in the blink of an eye-- something you felt was totally unthinkable becomes the sum of all you ever wanted....
This foreshadowed what was going to happen without going so far as a spoiler. An excellent start.

Then, I heard Josef. He just said my name. No one else in that room would have heard it unless they were vampires, but ‘hearing‘ isn‘t really the right word. I didn’t just hear it. I felt it. It resonated through my being.
Powerful! It stopped me in my tracks.

jen wrote:“I know. You’d rather have her human.” said Josef. For now.
Josef's life experience shows here. It is perfect, not over the top, just the right touch.

So, Jenna, it had to be something life threatening to open his eyes? It is not healthy to realise how much you love somebody, only when you are about to lose them..But, if this is what it takes for Mick, I will second you in this...I liked your fast writing, and your Josef was so great, a supportive friend, an all-fixer, a leader..

Thanks again

Totally agree that it would have been easier, less traumatic and more comfortable for both of them to realize the depth of their love and need for each other without a near death experience, but as you say...whatever it takes.

Sometimes it takes a traumatic event to make us realize that the trivial barriers we put up between ourselves and what we want are...trivial.

Thanks for reading and leaving such a thoughtful, insightful comment!

Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

Sometimes it is the really horrendous things that happen in our lives that make us wake up and appreciate what we have. This was one of those moments for Mick.

So many times my heart jumps in this story, Jenna...for him, for her, even for Josef. They all face critical issues.. :clapping:
