Francis--diane31's powerpoint illustration is what drew my attention to your story, and since I left diane a comment, I thought it only fitting to let you know too, how much I enjoyed your story.

Josef's emotions are so powerful here. You dun broke my heart when he says:
If only you would want to be a vampire just a little bit because of me.
and:
But I am jealous of your friendship with her.
Because you never would make such a sacrifice for me.
I'm :hankie:

Very haunting. Lovely.

Bravo! :clapping:

Hey this exploring thing is fun. I liked this very much. You really got inside Josef and made this so sad and yet hopeful. I have loved Josef and Mick's friendship from the beginning of the show. Their banter and how they depended on each other. And to think that they didn't like each other to begin with. If you can believe Coraline that is. Nice. :rose:

It would mean so much for me if you just acknowledged that you knew what you mean to me.
I am not jealous of Beth, at least not in any romantic way.
But I am jealous of your friendship with her.
Because you never would make such a sacrifice for me.
And you don’t take me into your life like you used to do before her.

Josef is so frequently hidden behind his mask. On rare occasions, we get to see his actual, vulnerable self. Thank you for showing us this side of Josef. The re-turning scene was one of the most intimate scenes I have ever seen. You captured the feel of the scene perfectly.

Francis, this was lovely. :flowers:

Thanks to Marigold for bumping this up!

Francis, this is exquisite

Don’t you understand how catching your humanity is?
That being around you for almost 50 years makes me want?
That the hardest thing about being 400 years old is to find excuses to live on?
That now that you are my friend I have all the excuses I need?
That I want to live because you are so utterly unpredictable and incongruent, moral, violent, passionate, guilt-ridden, caring, heartless, cruel and softspoken.
You are the mirror I need to get a grip,
the friend who sometimes pretends to need my advice just to make me feel valuable,
the reason I started to be interested in human life again.
You ground me. You floor me. You earthen me.

The entire piece is exquisite, but the portion above is so very thoughtful and insightful. Mick is, indeed, a study in contrasts and Josef is aware of it here.

Thank you for this gem!

I love it when an old favorite pops up. I've just watched the wonderful slideshow that diane31 created out of your story, and I'm swept away once more by how wonderfully it works.

I like to think that through the blood, Josef and Mick came to understand a lot of things about each other that neither of them could ever have articulated out loud. Although I can imagine Mick thinking, "Man, you shouldn't have lied to me about the Cure!" :snicker:
