What is the significance of the name Club Valis??? There's gotta be one, right?

grace, I know there is a book named Valis that deals with philosophy and geology, even a bit of good vs. evil. My guess would be one of the writers had read or was in the process of reading it and thought it would make a cool name. There is even a character by the name of Sophia.

Thanks GA... I was assuming it had something to do with vampires somehow... V for Valis, V for Vlad, V for vampires... like maybe it meant vampire in some other language! Sounds like a more plebian reason... and it is kinda a cool name...

I apologize for the temporary abandonment of my post. Without further ado, here we go....


Mick and Beth run into each other at the morgue. Again. A little awkward.



Beth says she doesn't want to invade Mick's privacy. Maybe she's thinking he's picking up some blood? Mick says no, he's working a case. Beth says so is she. Err, a story.





Yeah, definitely awkward.



Beth gestures for Mick to follow her and they walk down the hall together.



Beth says she's trying to get into this club and asks if he would happen to know a vet.



Mick says no. Vamps can't really be trusted with pets. But, wait. You need a vet to get into a club?



Beth shows him the micor chip and says she needs it inserted in her hand.



Mick's gotta be thinking she's nuts. He smiles and says of course she does.



Yeah, yuk it up. Beth tells him they scan them. Can't she just hold it? No, they check pretty carefully.





She got the chip from a model that colapsed. She tells Mick the morgue guy thinks it was due to traces of silver found in her blood. Silver?



Yeah. And the model was fine until she went to a place called Club Valis.



Mick has a thought. He doesn't know a vet but he may have something else.



Mick steps away and Beth follows, obviously enjoying the fact that they were going to be working together.



Mick's big idea. If Mick weren't so hot I would've burned rubber getting out of there.



Mick tells her not to worry, it's sterile.



Beth says it's the size that worries her. Yeah, that was my worry as well.

She wants to know why he even has that kind of needle.



He gives her a look.



Oh, yeah. Stupid question. Hell, I wouldn't have been able to think either with MICK preparing a huge syringe to implant a chip in my hand. And that sound it makes as he withdraws it from the bottle. Ick!



He says it may hurt a little bit. Beth looks ill. "Okay, but I'll be fine, right?" I've never liked Mick's response of "Let's hope". What the hell kind of answer is that?



Mick proceeds to work on her hand. Beth brings up the kiss.





Mick lets her off the hook by saying he thought it was an accident.



He threw her a lifeline and the girl grabbed it. She says "Okay". Mick smiles. He was enjoying her uneasines.





Quick to put that conversation behind her, Beth asks him to tell her when they're done.



Mick promptly says "done". And he tells her to keep her finger on the incision. Beth looks startled for a second. That it didn't hurt? That is was over so quick? That Mick let the kiss issue go so easily?







While Beth is looking at her hand, Mick tells her he wants to go with her. To Club Valis.



Beth assumes he's going to watch over her. She tells him she'll be okay.



He informs her that he's looking for someone. And he thinks she'll be there. Beth catches the 'she' part and questions it.



Mick just says 'yeah'. Oh, is he sure of himself in this episode or what?



Beth pulls herself together and with a little heat she tells him to meet her there in 2 hours.



Mick watches her leave.

After checking out those pics, I'll be back with a proper comment when I can form a sentence

I'm so happy we've got to this scene. I think it's one of my very favourites in the whole season. Both at the morgue and in Mick's kitchen, the lighting and camera work is just DIVINE. Nether of them ever looked more beautiful.

Plus, the banter is lovely - you're right, GA, this is confident Mick at his very best. He knows what's happening between them; he loves reminding her about the kiss - he is totally at ease here. And that's just amazingly sexy. And they are both enjoying another opportunity to work together - this was always one of the things I loved about early Mick/Beth: they made a great team.

The one thing that was a minor irritation in this scene, when Beth blanches at the needle, Mick assures her it's sterile then promptly proceeds to pick the chip up with his fingers and stick it on the end of the syringe before implanting it in her hand. I would never have thought twice about this if they hadn't drawn attention to it by preceding it with the assurances about it being sterile. Unnecessary and a bit dumb.

But that's such a minor quibble compared to the overall marvellousness. I could stare at these caps for HOURS.

LOL!! Thank goodness Mick is a private investigator and not a doctor.

"Doctor St. John, am I going to live?"
"Let's hope."

I really love that scene. They both look STUNNING. The lighting people need a friggin' Emmy Award.

I'm just going to agree with everything Red said.
That entire scene is perfection. Sexy Mick at his very best and the much loved Mick/Beth team work played out beautifully
And I've always loved the way Mick watches her as she leaves

Red, I am reallllllllly sure that Mick washed his hands before he picked up that chip!

But that part always made me laugh too--such a guy thing, isn't it?

And I love the "Let's hope" line... Mick was sometimes funny, in a very wry way... he didn't get enough credit for that, with flashy Josef quipping left and right... but Mick has a very wry sense of humor.

Those two were completely and utterly stunning in both of those scenes--if I hadn't already adored Moonlight, those two scenes would've done it for me. Mick's voice! His smile! Beth's wide-eyed looks! That eye line Red referred to!
Oh lord help me...

Regarding the "sterile" comment...
Um, the chip just came out of a dead woman. To me, a few vampire-finger germs don't have nearly the squick factor of the DEAD GIRL FLESH on the chip.

I mean, EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

But maybe it's just me....

GA~~you outdid yourself with those photos. Just breathtaking. And I have nothing to add that hasn't been said about the scene in his kitchen. Loved them, loved the flirty, playful banter. Love it all.

I adore this scene - Beth is radiant in it and OMG, GA...you have OUTDONE yourself with those screen caps. I just love that little hint of jealousy in Beth's voice when he tells her the person he's looking for is a "she".

And...I'll be squeeing when the next scene comes up!
