However, I completely disagree about Beth not looking like she belonged in that club--if you are talking strictly about how she looked. If you are speaking of Lola being so much more worldly than her--then, yeah, I agree. There's no competing with centuries of power.
Yeah, the more confident, more worldly part definitely, but I was referring to looks too. It was a sexy club, sexy people, sexy stuff going on and she looked girl next door, especially next to Lola. It's not a knock, weren't they going for that look with Beth?
No tomatoes: I would have much preferred to have Cora played more like Lola---I thought Lola was beyond sexy and powerful with more than a hint of sinister. Just my opinion.
When does that therapy start?

Hey, Cora had the power over Mick! That's all the power I'd want in her shoes.

I need to start the therapy, I am sensing a serious relapse--I never thought Cora was all that sexy---start the tomatoes now!
Next time, Beth needs to take the BC before clubbing!

I always thought they were trying for the girl next door look with Beth too until the last couple of episodes and the make-up dept went bonkers and started turning her into Elvira Mistress of the Dark with those eyes. To me it just lost the sense of what Beth was supposed to be about. In the BC club scenes, she looked like the girl next door trying to play dress up which I guess was the point. Maybe she was supposed to look a bit out of place.
As for Lola, I thought the way she acted in the club was just a bit too over the top. Holly was, as they say, chewing the scenery a bit in that one. The confrontation between Mick and Lola in the warehouse was better. Maybe she'd settled into the role by that point or maybe felt more confident just acting opposite him and not a room full of other actors. Whatever the reason, she came across more as a confident older vamp.

Ummm I'm not sure if therapy or glasses.
What's funny is I've seen Shannyn Sossmon in a lot of other parts and Coraline is the only time I ever thought she looked really sexy.
But yes, BC before clubbing for every human not just Beth.

Back at you!!
It's just like anything else, a matter of preference. For me, didn't find her sexy at all. I know a lot of people did, and I respect that totally. I actually find her written more seductively in the fics here, then she appeared on the show.

Fleur this won't surprise you but I'm agreeing with you again
I get fic Cora better than I get show Cora
Coraline isn't in
BC though is she?

No, she isn't.
Question: Would any of
you take BC if it caused the effects similar to what Beth experienced?

Yes I thought that was part of the point... she could look good to
Mick, who was predisposed to think she looked good, and who wanted an anti-Cora/Lola type at that point. But she wasn't THAT fab... she was still very girl-next-doorish... as Lola said, "this little thing here," whom, btw, Lola wouldn't let into the VIP room when she didn't have a chip; Lola looked Beth over and rejected her... she wasn't va va voom enough for the sex room.
Shannyn did not play Morgan as sexy as Cora... but Shannyn's Cora was not as over the top as Holly's Lola... Cora is a younger vamp to Lola, of course, and Cora is also an aristocrat... who knows where Lola originated from, but 500 years ago... it was a bawdy time. Just as Mick is a product of his time and Cora a product of hers, Lola would be too...
But it is personal preference what ANY of us think is sexy. Shannyn doesn't have a voluptuous, curvy figure... she is more willowy and slinky. So sexy to some, less so to others... but she played her as cool, coy, and of course dangerous and deadly. To many men, that is a sexy combo. Apparently it was to Mick.

If it put me on Mick's doorstep? Do I even have to ANSWER that?

I have so many issues with how they dressed Beth for her second visit to Club Valis, but I'll save them for when we get to that point!
I agree about the girl next door look - and for this scene, I thought it worked really well in establishing Lola's character. Given what we already knew about her from Josef's conversation with Mick, her look was perfect.
