I agree with dc - I'd have cheerfully killed three strangers and a distant family member to get a look-see at that original promo.

I kinda liked the shorter hair and the almost innocent air around Mick in the original promos, even though I think he was intended to be anything but. BTW, LOVE that first pic, GA!). If you read the original script, Mick was quite a bit darker and tortured.

If anyone's not read the original script, I think I still have a link to it somewhere in my email...

Yes! Mick in the original pilot was much darker.
And Mick in Trevor's novel, which he has posted on his myspace, is really, really dark. And his name is not St.John!

Thanks for the links, coco. The original Coraline was shockingly bad in the turning scene - but I liked Mick's reaction *much* better.

I'm glad for the re-cast.

And as someone who is a real fan of the Hiatt look, I actually think Mick works better with the longer hair and the smoother clothes. It gives him an air of world-weariness that I love.

But somewhere in between, for me at least, was the original Mick look, and it didn't work for me.
