TV Guide (the printed magazine) used to run tvguide.com, but they split into two separate entities a year or so ago. I guess TV Guide magazine realized that they missed having an online forum, so now they have tvguidemagazine.com. It's a bit confusing to the readers, but oh well. I keep the websites straight in my mind by remembering that Matt Roush's column/blog is in TV Guide magazine (and its website, tvguidemagazine.com), not in tvguide.com.
Clear as mud, huh?

And to get back on the Three Rivers topic, I found it kind of ironic that Andy was talking about "hail Mary" when it's football that has caused the show so many problems. I wonder if it was deliberate?

It wouldn't surprise me in the least, Alle, if the "hail Mary" line was deliberate. Just like I think Ryan's reading of "Gray's Anatomy" was also deliberate. These writers are apparently not without a sense of humor.

CBS issued a press release highlighting all the special episodes for the month of November (which is a sweeps month). All three of TR's upcoming episodes made the list.

For what it's worth, the even eps of this show are really doing it for me! Don't know why, but eps 2 and 4 are my faves. This last one was more deservedly fast paced---let's see if I can explain myself:

The eps are always bouncing around, lots of viewpoints, etc, however, this one earned it's pacing due to the fact that it was basically one big storyline with the football team. As much as I wish we could get more Dr Andy and his personal life, I am slowly loving this show for what it does offer, and probably what it is meant to do: which is not be another Grey's where the focus is on the doc's personal lives, but rather the lives, and deaths, of each week's patients and the doc's reactions to that, with perhaps a dollop of personal moments thrown in. I think for me, and perhaps most of us, watching this show initially was difficult because we were in a ML state of mind and definitely an Alex one. Through each week, I am getting past the pre-conceived ideas, etc I had for the show, and just plain enjoying all that it has to offer. It really has earned my viewing time and respect---I dare say that I would like this show even if 'our guy' wasn't in it!

I still would love to see the transplant perspective spanning out over 2 weeks, allowing some much needed time to get to know the regular characters. That would be the best of both worlds for me, but last I checked, they weren't producing 3R for me.

Darn it!

Actually, Fleur, you might get your wish. Kuol Adebe, the guy who came to Three Rivers specifically to have Andy as his transplant surgeon, will return in an upcoming episode (or maybe even two).

On his FB, Owiso Odera, who plays Kuol, has said he's in this week's epsiode (although that has changed a number of times) and he's definitely in the Mandy Patinkin episode, due to air on the 15th, so .

I agree completely. The focus of the show is the process of organ transplantation, not which doctor is hopping from whose bed - that's what totally turned me away from Grey's Anatomy (that and the fact that every time Meredith opens her mouth, I want to slap her). Yes, I'd like more backstory, but I'm learning that's not the point of the show.

Now that I'm getting a feel for the show's concept, I'm finding I'm enjoying it more. I truly think the show's starting to hit its stride...and even if it doesn't pull the numbers CBS wants, they certainly can't be accused this time around of not supporting the show.

Oh, that is good news---more time to explore not only Otieno's (in my head, that's what I call him!) perspective, but to add some tibits of a personal nature regarding Dr Andy and the others. There is just too much going on in the course of a regualar ep to devote any time at all to these docs personal lives, and I find myself wanting to know more , about all of them. Yeah, I needed to just let go of whatever notions I had, and just let the show come to me. If that makes any sense. I suppose, again, a lot of that comes from ML being a very one-on-one type of show, in that relationships were primarily the focus. I mean, you had your 'caper of the week', but that was always grounded in the MickBethJosef dynamic. Not so in 3R. And honestly, most hospital dramas do tend to focus on the intertwining bedding of the workers----it gets incestuous after a while.

And thank Bob Almighty that CBS is stepping up to the plate. There would have been an angry mob with screaming and bloodshed had they not.

Lisa and PNWgal, 2 and 4 my favorite episodes to, and I am thinking I know why on my part. Both of those episodes had a moment of "oh my Alex, is getting that look on the roof" and "oh my Alex, is getting p......d moment", and was it just me, or did any one get the Aussie moment when Alex went a little nuts. He can make an episode in a few minutes.
