And his character's name?

Craig O'Laughlin.

With an "a".

Red

At least it's Craig, not Viva. :rolling:

It's lovely that he has a steady job. I liked his acting, even when I despised his character. And that was probably due to his acting. :snicker:

You know how folks who don't like Alex are always bitching about Nina pushing him onscreen?
Kinda funny that name for a former ML actor... those folks may now bitch that it's all a plot to keep Alex's persona in the public's mind...
Tho the spelling IS different, it's not like anybody but us knows how to spell the man's name anyway.

I wonder how they'll pronounce it... :chin:

Probably O'Lofflin. Just to make everything more confusing.

But YAY for Eric! :yahoo:

You know, I'd forgotten he was on that turkey. I actually saw both episodes before they pulled the plug. At the very least, it was very strange, trying perhaps to be so outside the box, it left the building.

I think alle has the right idea, but it will be interesting....if it's O'Locklin, I wonder if they'd write something into the script that has his character's name perpetually mispronounced.... :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

Anyway, good for Eric, :yahoo: and may the third time be the charm for him as well :fingerscrossed:

The Sept 14 CBS press bundles indicate that Eric Winter will be in the October 7 episode of The Mentalist as Agent Craig O'Loughlin....

CBS Press Bundles

they apparently changed the spelling of the last name from what the Deadline Hollywood article had as O'Laughlin.....

or was is merely a Freudian slip???

or is someone messing with our minds???

So how do you suppose they'll pronounce it? :snicker:

If they want to slide it under the radar, it'll be pronounced O'Lofflin

If I were writing the episode, I have it pronounced O'Locklin. Since this new character is supposed to be a love interest for Van Pelt, it would give something for Rigsby to goad the new guy with - 'what, you can't pronounce your own name?' :snicker: It would also provide a little poking fun at the network, since it took them forever and a damn day to get their own affiliates to pronounce Alex's name correctly....

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I think you might be right that they are trying to be subliminal - particularly if they pronounce it O Lock Lin.

Devoted viewers will hear the name and then start making "Mentalist connections" (like we make Moonlight connections) when they hear advertisements for H50 starting Alex OLoughlin. They'll just have to watch H50 to see if he's anything like Ben Talbot - er - Craig OLoughlin.

OK, just saw 'The Mentalist' and Eric Winter made his first appearance
Spoiler:
as an FBI agent in what seems to be the first of a couple of episodes.
His character's name, Craig O'Laughlin is pronounced O'Lofflin. (Missed an incredible opportunity, there.) My biggest complaint - could they have possibly made him any less attractive? The buzz cut isn't kind to some, and certainly not to him. :gasp:

I agree DSR. Eric really looked completely different. I am surprised also with the way the name was pronounced. I was thinking it would be the way Alex pronounces it but it wasn't.

The episode itself was pretty interesting especially when Jane talked to the Spirit near the end. Is it all some type of act?

I truly didn't recognize him at first. His face looked so thin. But the character seems likable enough so far. They certainly established a nice connection with Van Pelt.

Actually I wouldn't have recognized him either except I had read that he was going to be on, plus I saw his name with the cast at the beginning. But he really looks different. I thought it was just the hair but maybe he has lost some weight?
