Coraline shrugged, looking beautiful as always in one of those fancy hostess/lounging get-ups rich women used to wear back then, her hair curling around her face in a way that still made me want to sweep it aside and cover her with kisses.
Very telling line.

OK, off to the next chapter. :hyper2:

Three glimpses into Mick's past Christmas memories.

Form and substance.

How often we can't tell them apart until later.

Lovely!

Thank you!

Wonderful reread.

Interesting choice of people to appear as, Ghost of Christmas Past is...Coraline??????

Better than a Ghost of Christmas Future, I guess...

Thank you!

Coraline (or the image of Coraline) is the perfect Ghost of Christmas Past. She is pointing out to Mick how very much he had, and how little he appreciated it. He was a grass-is-greener guy. Maybe now he'll start appreciating what he actually HAS... :slaphead:

Coraline as a ghost of Christmas past showing to Mick some glimpses of his lost mortality! And once again -as the story goes- she is pulling him away of the mortal memories,as well . That was so ironic, yet so powerful. So pointing that Mick didn't want to leave the memories of his mother, a bittersweet image for him and us.

Lucky, such a lovely story, and I love your Mick. :rose:

This is great. We see fragments of Mick's past and in those brief scenes glimpse the people who have made him the person he is now.

I remember this now, but Coraline as the ghost of Christmas past is...a little jarring. Kind of like casting Chuckie the killer doll from those horror movies as one of the Christmas elves...

Anyway, I'm in.

Thank, Lucky!

Ah, the past... Mick has to look his earlier self in the eye. Coraline (or not-Coraline) is the perfect guide to that older Mick. He had a lot to learn... actually, in the moment of this story, he still does! :chin:

Thanks so much for bumping! I think the choice of "spirits" for the past was a no-brainer. Coraline is so much the important part of Mick's past--without her, there would not be a need for him to review his Christmases.
