Medic, all I can tell you is that Mick was victimized by the showrunner and writers of the show...because Mick is not a guy who would desert someone he cares about.

Stupidest line ever... it wasn't meant to be? Yet it already WAS, for 33 years, it already WAS!
Plus there was still chemistry after 24 years of separation.
Maybe he doesn't wanna be married to her right now... but there's no negating what already had been... and that something still remained between them.

So not in character with Mick. But then Beth gets all out of character in the final four too... the writers, as Alle said, got all goofy.

:giggle: "Wedding Cake"

Tho I gotta admit, with great shame, that I never noticed in this pic that, as usual for Alex in RL, Mick has the button under the tie... not buttoned.

Hmmmm... so I wonder if that was a set stylist thing, or if Alex just will NOT button the top button.

apologies for coming so late to this particular conversation guys, but it was such an interesting conversation I just had to comment... just an opinion, but from a psychological standpoint I think I can make the decision he made to just 'abandon' Coraline swing...

Mick had been moping over not being human for 50 years, then had been moping about not being able to be with the person who had given him a reason to live because he wasn't human, then he becomes 'human'. Psychologically he's invested a hell of a lot in yearning to be human. To run straight after Coraline after getting what he'd wanted so badly that he'd rejected her for years would have negated everything he'd poured his emotional energy into for so long. I think even thinking about it straight away would have made him blow a fuse. (Ultimately, however, I think his sense of decency would have demanded that he rescue her.)

I hear ya Luxe, but I'm talking about the line itself. " It wasn't meant to be."

It already had been. Whether he would ever want to pursue Cora again, or not, is immaterial. I DO agree he would rescue her at some point, but I'm not even arguing the point of whether he is wanting a relationship, other than rescuer, with her. I just think the line was dumb.

Their relationship HAD been. There was still SOMETHING between them, as showed in the prior scene, as showed by her saving him, by his trying to fight for her, and as would be natural given the length and depth of their prior relationship. He's a vamp because of it. Met Beth because of it. If it wasn't meant to be, nonetheless it HAD been. Water under the bridge.

He COULD have said, it isn't meant to happen again. Or I don't want her that way this time. Or she sacrificed herself for me, for us. Or the visit last night wasn't what you thought it was... or I'm really over her this time, I promise. Anything like that.

But "it wasn't meant to be" is like trying to rewrite history. Revisionism. Angsty-vamp style. :giggle:
