When all is lost...

Love endures.

When everything else is stripped away--beautiful clothes, comfortable furnishings, music, art...

When one loses even one's accomplishments, education, strength, and beauty...

When there is no rest, no sustenance, no respite from pain, no chance to heal...

When all is dark, and the air is much too hot, and silver bonds cut into raw flesh with each movement...

His face is all I see in the darkness. The sound of his voice, deep and velvet-rough, fills my mind. The delicious memory of his skin, frosty from the freezer, soothes my wounds.

I accept this punishment willingly. For him.

This is wonderful.

I don't mean that I like to see Coraline hurt but the Coraline we saw on screen was not nice. This Coraline truly cared for Mick. This Coraline loved him enough to sacrifice herself to save his life and future, even if that future involved someone other than her.

That is just heartbreaking.

This is a Coraline Mick should rescue. Even Beth would probably agree...eventually. Mick being Mick, he would have to try and save her.

How very short, and yet how sad.

I agree with Jen, this Coraline is full of love and maybe even saw her mistakes. I pity her.

I want to see Cora hurt, yet I pity her at the same time.

Too little too late--- but in her darkest moment, some of her humanity is revealed. Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom to realize one's mistakes and that is what this Drabble signified to me.

Coraline sacrificed herself for Mick in TMC. I hate to see that she is now in such agony.

Memories of Mick are helping her to get through the punishment for the time being. Perhaps, like Jen said, Mick will come and rescue her. Despite how irrational and misguided her actions have been over the years, I've never doubted that she loves Mick.

Thank you, everyone! I truly believe that Coraline loved Mick. Right or wrong, crazy or not, she loved him with utter devotion. And in the worst torment, I believe she'd comfort herself with memories of him.

I love writing about Coraline, because she is such a fascinating character! That's what made Moonlight so wonderful: no one was one-dimensional.

I agree with you right wrong but never indifferent Coraline loved Mick and would do anything for him.
