I think this is my favorite Christmas fic. :hearts: When she turns to look into the woods and whispers "Merry Christmas", yes - it still makes me a little teary!

I have to comment on this story again. It is one of my favorites because of the simplicity of a child's love. This is a masterpiece.

thanks, woll - I think you've captured the charm of the story - pure, unconditional love is something only a child can give and something a lonely vamp was in desperate need of.

This is my third reading of this charming piece and it touches my heart every time.

Ah the direct, practical beauty of a child's perspective. Beth is quite strong and resilliant in that she seemingly has escaped much of the emotional trauma of her kidnapping, but she remembers her rescuer, her guardian angel.

Beautiful, Karen. Thank you!

Back for another reread.

What a delight this story is! For Beth, Christmas is a time of dreams and wonder. For Mick, dreams have been shattered and wonder sorely tried but there was a moment here when they connected. Beth shared a bit of wonder with her Guardian Angel, and her Christmas wish warmed his heart.

As we know, they have always been connected...

Thank you!

Jenna

thanks, Jenna  Of all the stories I've written, this one has a special place in my heart because it's seen through the eyes of the child Beth. Here, she is gradually returning to some semblance of normalcy after her abduction and return. In her own simple way, she gives the only gift to her angel she can, one which touches his heart. What better way to return to childhood innocence and joy than through the magic of Christmas?

I'm glad this one floated to the top again. It is indeed touching - even after a couple of readings over the years. Young Beth is so enchanting.
