You more than succeeded, sweetie, this is fabulous

The banter, the cadence, the subtle worry /threat underlying Josef's dialogue are all there, with Mick pushing back with logic, which Josef counters as only he could. The 'senior citizen discount was classic, but this for me was a close second. Josef's being cute, but he's also deadly serious.
“Joz'f – you’ve got humans around you all the time.”

“True... but mine are house-broken. This Turner girl – she's trouble. She's not going to play by the rules.”
Anxiously awaiting the follow-ons, but at your own pace, babe. We'll all be here waiting.

You have a perfect ear for Mick and Josef and it is wonderful to see something new from you.

I'm with eris I love the senior citizen discount.

:rolling: Oh, Lilly! :smooch:

When the title appeared in active topics I burst out laughing. The story is even better. Your ear is so well tuned to their banter, and your sense of humor is wicked funny. This was a joy to read. Thank you. :notworthy:

I so love that folks are picking out their favorite lines from this! :snicker: :rose: That's really got me smiling -- especially since you've pretty much covered the ones that I particularly liked as well.

DSR, Carol, Rhonda, and NM -- thanks so much for your kinds words about this little chat. :ghug: :flowers:

This is so perfect. I don't know how you capture Mick and Josef's dialog so well, but . . . this is it. Banter and snark, yes, but there are also so many subtle depths to their conversation here.

Too many favorite lines to mention, but this one particularly struck me:
He couldn't even remember where he lived.”

“A positive for the Mrs., at least...”
--which made me remember a part I'd almost forgotten -- the attitude of the professor's wife toward her husband!

And . . . there will be fifteen more? :woohoo:

Shadow -- Thank you SO much for this! I know from the rave reviews I keep hearing that you've written an amazing fill-in-the-blanks series. :notworthy: To be honest, the buzz was so good, I've been putting off reading it because I didn't want to be influenced by what you wrote. :blushing: I'm looking forward to the treat of reading your story once I've finished this. :teeth: In the meantime, thank you so much for reading mine and for your vote of confidence! :rose: :smooch:

Wow, Lilly, now I have even another reason to look forward to the rest of your series! I'm totally thrilled that you're planning to read my in-between story after you're finished with these. (Lucky for me I'm done with mine, so I won't have to wait to enjoy your stories as they come along!) I've already re-read this installment several times, and I'm so looking forward to the next one.

 Lilly this was wonderful! I wanted to sit and take it in properly, so waited until I'd got a relaxing cup of tea. :coffee: It is SO perfect! The pitch of their voices, Josef steering the conversation exactly where he wanted it to be. The rapport between them as brilliant as always. But so much to love about the way they speak to one another. The warmth, the wit. It's perfect lovely. Thank you so much! And I'll be waiting, tea in hand, for others! :hearts: :flowers:

I had to pop back to reread this one, since the second installment arrived today. It's as wonderful as I remembered! :hearts: I love the way you've captured what we knew of Mick and Josef in this first episode, without spilling too much about what we would learn later. Just a gorgeous "final scene" to the episode. :clapping: :clapping:

Oh Lilly, this is hilarious, as well as so in character! :clapping:

In addition to the lines everyone else has quoted (esp. "the Mrs." line :rolling: ), I nearly fell off my chair at this:
Lilly wrote:... "Did you see his hair?”
Only Josef could be offended by the guy's hair. :snicker:

Thanks for sharing this - it was a great read! :notworthy:

Can't wait for the next one! :eat:

Having read the second installment, I'm back for a re-read of this one.

My new favorite line (among soooo many):
“Finally. Someone gets offed.”
Pure Josef - After letting his displeasure be known as to how this whole incident played out, this is his snarky way of letting Mick know he did at least one thing right. :snicker:

After reading the new one I had to go back to read this one again.

It's even better than ever! A wonderful re-read. Josef's first line particularly struck me this time.
