Catmoon. This was just delightful. What is B&E? I loved the line about where is an earthquake when you need one, and about it really being weird now. I have to read more of your writing. Thanks for the story.

CatMoon, I apparently missed this the first and second time around. I'm so glad it popped to the surface again and I caught it this time! This was delightful! I can just see Beth standing in the doorway, seeing Mick with the notebook in his hand, and wishing for that earthquake! Loved the "backwards" comment, too!

Penina: Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. B&E is short for breaking and entering. Since they seem to have a habit of doing that together. ;)

MickLifeCrisis: Thanks! I call 'em as I see 'em. :snicker:

that was wonderful cat.... I love the humour in this story, the real emotions that the awkwardness stems from. I think you got the moment she sees him with the diary totally perfect.

Believe it or not, I'd never read this before, Cat - and it's so very lovely. It has just the right amount of awkwardness (oh the horror of the notebook!!!) before finally, finally, the time for pretence is over:
Catmoon wrote:“What are we?” he asked when she was standing in front of him.

“I think you know.” Beth watched her hand rise up to rest on his chest.
Just wonderful.

Found this on active topics. Loved it--Mick's finding Beth's schoolgirl crush journal, and realizing he wasn't the only "weirdo"--Beth would have stalked him if she could've! But her mother wouldn't tell her his name! Tee hee--priceless.

I also loved how the voiceover came at the end instead of the beginning. Backwards.

Sweet story. It really helps make sense of the last four episodes. As usual Beth has to lead the way.

Luxe: Thanks! I just imagined how I'd feel if I was Beth and saw him with the notebook. :snicker:

Red: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.

Nocturne: You know, I don't think I did that on purpose, but now that you mention it having the V/O at the end is perfect for the theme of the story.

Helloeeze: Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, to me the whole dating thing just seemed like going backwards.

Lovely reread!

Their relationship is very complex. There are so many layers there. A lovely couple, absolutely! but so much more, too.

Thanks!

Oh, Cat Moon, thank you for stating it so beautifully. Mick and Beth were inevitable. Even though he couldn't bring himself to admit it. Somehow I think that Beth's subconscious made her leave that diary out so he'd see it. But poor baby--how embarrassing! I love that line about the earthquake. :blushing: And the "backward" line is perfect: they did everything upside down and inside out, but it was just the way they were fated to do it. :hearts:

I loved this story for another reason, too. Ohhh, how I sympathize with Beth. I lost my diary (which was exactly that same kind of single-subject notebook) at the beginning of 11th grade. That notebook held every humiliating, excruciating emotion and thought, all my secrets. I never did find it... and I spent the next 2 years of high school wondering who had seen it, and whether they were all laughing at me behind my back. It was the last time I kept a diary. They are too dangerous.
