This is a little awkward and if the mods feel it inappropriate, I'll understand its removal.

The news of Alex's affliction has affected me deeply as it has everyone else here. Along with you, I offer my thoughts, prayers and wishes for his speedy recovery and a healthy future. What also affected me was the outpouring of love and support all of you have offered not because of a character or a show, but because you care about the man, a fellow human being.

I fully recognize that Alex isn't Mick, and vice versa, but there's a part of Alex in Mick that made him the character we came to love. What follows is a drabble, my way of hoping that the healing power of love will aid Alex in his time of need through a character he made so very special for us all.

Healing

As a child, there were no wounds my mother couldn’t heal, no pain her love couldn’t ease. Gentle fingers wiped away my tears and with a reassuring hug, the world became right again.

I could go on.

As a man, war inflicted its own pain; some wounds bleeding red for all to see, others invisible, horrors hidden in my memory. No hugs or soothing words would ever heal them.

Still, I had to go on.

Now, lost in what I’ve become, my soul cries out. My mother’s gone, but her love remains, strengthening me.

I will heal and go on.

I love you so, so much, for writing this.

I am really struggling with this, and this... this... just hit home for me.

God bless our Alex, and the little bits of Mick that are a part of his soul.

Darkstarrising ,thank you. Amazing how you put in words the thoughts and prayers of so many people! I just wish Alex could read this ''Mick'' piece, it would bring peace to his heart even for a while, as it did to mine, I am sure.

I will be back reading this again in a while, and I am sure this ''prayer'' piece will have already worked its miracle.
