Video interviews with Alex - CBS upfronts May 24, 2007
Alex talking about Mick - you can tell how long ago this was because the US/Aussie accent is all over the place. Hadn't quite got his interview voice down yet:

That was wonderful to see. It was interesting to hear him talking about the timeline for the original pilot, with Mick turned in the late 40s. Thanks, Red.
I went ahead and added that interview to the Media Links forum for both Moonlight and Alex.

I'm bummed - that video doesn't play right for me. I can hear the audio, but the video gets stuck and then jumps. Maybe there's just congestion in the tubes of the Interweb between here and the UK... I'll keep trying. His voice is divine... I love those early interviews.

Thanks for finding this, red! I really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the NY Comic Con interview with Alex and Jason.

My pleasure, Rhonda. I'm always on the hunt for "new" Moonlight stuff, even though it's all so bitterwseet now.

Thank you Red for posting the link to this little treasure !
You can see how much Alex liked his character, he was in awe of Mick , and his eyes were sparkling for the happyness , for the possibility to work on a story he was so intrigued by!
Now, a little curiosity : I am Italian, I've learned english all by myself, but I don't have any chance to speak with anybody for practice, so when I watch his recent interviews, I can understand about 70% of what he's saying ! But when he doesn't hide his aussie accent, I get EVERYTHING !!!!! It's weird !!!!!
God, I love Alex.....always will !!!!

That's weird, but cute.
I love hearing Alex talking in his own accent - not just because I like the accent itself, but his voice has a more natural cadence when he's not having to try so hard.
As for any interviews you struggle to work out what Alex is saying, just post a query in whatever thread the video link appeared and some kind soul will be happy to explain anything you missed.

Re: Video interview with Alex - CBS upfronts May 24, 2007
I just love how excited he was back then to get to work on this show...his first "lead" on a big US Network.
When he refers to Mick as having been turned in the 40's it kind of makes me think this was near the time I read about when Alex had to represent the show all by himself. They had just cut all the cast members except for him and sent him out on stage all alone while CBS did a complete rewrite and recast.
“The most unnerved I’ve been in this whole process was when I was at Carnegie Hall by myself on stage. There was the cast of ‘Cane,’ like 10 people on stage, and the cast of ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ and I kind of waddled out there by myself and I was like, ‘Please watch “Moonlight.” Bye.’And I felt like a [jerk] ’cause I didn’t know what was coming. I had lost my entire cast.” — LA Times, October 31, 2007

Wow. Kath, I'd never seen that quote from the LA Times. Poor guy. But what a pro!

I don't have the whole article myself but thanks to Alex O'Loughlin fan.com they saved it here http://www.alexoloughlinfan.com/press/latimes-10312007/
It's almost heartbreaking to go back a read what it was like back then knowing what we now know. We were lucky to get Moonlight at all or to think what would have hapend had they just waited one season to toss Moonlight into the ring.
