The first time I saw that last scene of Sonata, I reacted badly to it on many levels. In the first place, I had just learned that the show I had become totally enamoured with was cancelled almost a year before (major bummer) and I just thought the focal point of the last conversation, 'what was I wearing?' was totally lame but this time through, after watching it a lot of times, I saw it differently.

Some people strive to live their lives 'in the moment' rather than relying more on careful planning and logic. However we choose to do it, we live our lives in the tension between these two perspectives. Yes, it comes down to 'right here, right now' to Mick. To Beth, it was a question about the place she occupied in Mick's heart.

At least, in the final episode, they gave us that.

Maybe whoever sent the list doesn't know everything.

How I love that last scene. Right here, right now. :melts:

:ghug: for Alle's muse

I didn't watch this episode tonight....I find it too hard to watch, knowing what the ending could have led to but didn't. :Mickangel:

This seemed in many ways to change so much of the heirarchy of the vampires. In other episodes, Josef was deferred to either because of his wealth or his age. He wielded a lot of power over the vampire community. Here, Mick did and that surprised me. He commanded vampires far older than himself and that seemed to go against the 'with age comes power' rule. But in Moonlight, rules were routinely made and cheerfully broken.

Logan was out of his basement and acting like a functioning member of vampire society. Who knew?

Guillermo was...Guillermo. How sensitive and perceptive he is! The Cleaners were as imposing and cold as almost always without a single hair out of place.

Josef...was Josef. Perfectly in character.

Adored Mick and Josef's scene about relationship issues. Vampire...guy stuff.

Hi Jen,
I always thought the comment "with age comes power" was referring to physical power, and maybe better honed skills.

I never thought Josef had prominence in the community solely due to his age. He has accumulated enough to have the power that goes with money (mobility, etc.), in addition to the vamp power that comes with age. I'm not sure how that translates in the politics of the vampire community. That said, Josef can surely handle the politics.

Well, we all know Josef is like Mary Poppins--"practically perfect in every way." But I do think Josef's very clear power in the community is a combination of age and money.

Interesting.

While we view things much the same way, our perspectives and interpretations are just a bit different.

My thought on that has always been that Mick has Josef's unspoken backing...and everyone knows that. Plus, Josef is smart enough to know Mick is better at this sort of thing, and he's going to back his friend's play.

Thanks for the muse hugs, ladies. :ghug: I think she's perking up. :teeth:

Regarding Mick being in a position of power in this episode. I always interpreted it differently. It was more like, "Your ineptitude got us into this mess. If you'd handled things better, we wouldn't have to deal with it. So it's up to you to get us out."

Maybe I'm off-base, but... that's the way it looks to me.

I actually saw it that way as well Alle. The Cleaners were not happy about him letting Emma be arrested.
