Ijust a thought interjection here,

secrets always come with a price, either a sense of obligation or power.
both play into the relationship that is beginning to deepen between Josef and Beth.

I agree that he is"taking her measure" here, and she is begining to explore just how far she is willing to go

I like that!

Makes total sense that Beth's willingness to step into darkness to protect Mick and by extension the vampire community would stand out to Josef here.

There was a line drawn in the sand and Beth stepped over it.

Hi, MS! Glad you could join us.

One thing that has also struck me as ironic: if Mick had known of the threat -- if he had seen the pictures and known about the risk of exposure, or if it were a threat to Josef -- he very well may have handled it the same way.

Yes, and they made them seem closer still in Sonata, so I would have loved to see what Season 2 brought.

Beth has demonstrated that she can keep a secret from the humans in order to protect the vampires. But this is the first time she has deliberately kept a secret from Mick. She doesn't have to do this. She could tell him that she had asked Josef to get rid of Dean Foster. Mick wouldn't like it, but Beth could choose to handle it that way. I find it very interesting that, not only is she allying herself with Josef here, but she is deceiving Mick on purpose.

To me, the most interesting question of all is, why didn't Beth fess up to Mick about this? And how did that secrecy affect her relationship with him?

I agree with that thought Lilly,

but my question is would he if, he knew that Beth knew or was involved?

Good point.

Mick is, after all, a vampire and Dean was a threat to them all.

I think it was fear, Alle. You could see the fear in her eyes when Mick told her in the alley that a vampire moves on if they think they are about to be exposed. She was probably afraid of losing him if he feld Foster was on to him. Of course, the solution came with the fear that Mick would reject her if he knew what she had done. IMHO

I think you nailed it, NM. Beth had been through a lot of changes in her life, and I think she wasn't prepared for any more.

I keep thinking of Mick's line about not wanting to be seen as a monster in someone else's eyes. I believe that Beth was afraid Mick would see her as no different from Coraline.
