Moonlight on the CW, Ep. 6: B.C.
Episode Title: "B.C."
Current air date: July 8, 2010
Guardian Angel's Episode 6 discussion thread with screencaps, part 1
Guardian Angel's Episode 6 discussion thread with screencaps, part 2
The basics (from tvguide.com):
Synopsis: Mick searches for a powerful vampire from Josef's past who is linked to a drug-overdose case that Beth is investigating.
Written by: Ron Koslow & Trevor Munson
Directed by: Paul Holahan
Original Air Date: Nov 3, 2007
Guest Cast:
Patrick Fischler: Alan
Josh Kelly: Calvin
Kevin Weisman: Steve Balfour
Holly Valance: Lola
Anil Raman: Terrance
Brian White: Lt. Carl Davis
My own thoughts about this episode:
This is the one that sets the MickBeth shippers' hearts aflutter, but it's got so much more than that (truly amazing and wonderful in almost EVERY way) scene in Mick's apartment. It's got Josef showing a few cracks in his facade of perfection, and one of my favorite scenes (at the very end) between Mick and Josef. It's got Lola, who's just a dream of an antagonist, and who has been fodder for some wonderful Moonlight fanfic. It's got Mick nekkid in his freezer. It's got the conversation about the Kiss. (Yeah, suuuure, Mick, of course it was just a mistake.)
It's got Mick standing, leaning against the wall outside Club Valis, the absolute essence of Perpetual Coolness.
And oh, yeah... it's got that scene in Mick's apartment, where Beth almost melts his face, she's so smokin' hot. And Mick, ever the gentleman, takes her into a freezing-cold shower and tries to put out that fire. (Oh, sorry... that was a moment when I really wanted his self-control to snap...)
I adore the scene the next morning, with Mick sitting in the chair, looking just heart-meltingly beautiful, and telling Beth a little bit about the downside of being a vamp.

Re: Moonlight on the CW, Ep. 6: B.C.
ooooh...I love this episode love to see Mick trip all over himself when Beth comes over high on BC.
I know we've talked about Mick's 'smoldering' looks, but beyond the one where he's trying to decide on whether to take Beth up on her offer, there's another one after the cops raid the club. Everybody's run off and Mick is standing there in a visual showdown with Josh. That's the first time (I think) he's gotten a bit territorial about Beth....

that's one of them (nicely done, BTW) ....the other is after she's trotted upstairs, and he's mentally struggling with what he'd like to do vs. what he know he should do....

I don't think I breathed through this whole episode the first time I watched it. From the laughing at Mick and Josef right at the start and all the way. Every character was at their best - visually and acting.
Lola is a fantastic. As soon as it was over I was hoping she somehow escaped (hey, if Coraline could, so could Lola) and would return in a later episode.

They certainly laid the groundwork for her coming back, with Josef stating how old and powerful she was....reinforced at the end with Beth stating 'she won't be back'. Of course not.
Too bad. It would have been fun to watch.

I guess it's been awhile since I've seen this episode. I forgot how Mick reacted to finding the dead vamp. Maybe it was just emphasized by the commercial break that immediately followed it.

'The high is ....us'.
If that line were said any more seductively, it would be illegal.

Yeah, and Beth isn't doing so badly herself....loved to see how Mick teetered on the edge of temptation for a moment....

This definitely has to be the HOTTEST episode of the 16 - in dialogue, in clothes, and in set design. (OOOh - those colors in Club Valis across Mick's face... )

Agreed. It has one of the saddest moments as well, when Beth tells Mick that that wasn't the real her the night before....the disappointment in his face, the way he drops his arm on the chair, as his hopes that she really could have feelings for him are dashed.

But don't you think the possibility is restored to him when he sees how relieved Beth is that he's out of the building?

See, I didn't find Mick to be so disappointed the morning after. He knows Beth is attracted to him. I found him to be more thoughtful than disappointed.
