The Absence of Resolution Challenge 134 G

Post by jen »

This is another drabble on the Resolution Challenge

I don’t think I’ve ever met a man who reminds me more of Daddy.

But why?

They seem such opposites: warm, attentive, adoring Charles and my aloof, distant, secretive daddy, who's charming one moment and a stranger the next. I’m his princess, but I’ve seen his mercuric side more than once. Mother warns me to stay clear of it. She says all men are driven to dominate, control and subjugate those around them, even those they claim to love.

Do I sense darkness within my beloved Charles? Or is it only my imagination, a trick of the light.

I wonder...

Or maybe a dark shadow hanging over her love. This is a shivery portent of sadness to come. Sara can't really understand the dangers. Josef does, but he will succumb to her pleading, with disastrous results. Talk about star-crossed lovers! :Mickangel:

Micklifecrisis (aka The Birthday Girl) :wishes: :champs:

Don't you think there is a rip roaring story about Charles Fitzgerald and Sarah Whitley back in 1955?

There is a darkness in Charles, as well, and even though it is easy to be swept up in the boyish good looks, snark, and charm, beneath all that is a darkness, too. Oh, that darkness could be exciting, and in time, Sarah was, I think, excited by it as I think her mother was once a bit excited by the darkness in her father.

Thank you for reading!

DSR

There is a dark side to Charles, but not one she suspects--yet.

Her mother spots the darkness, but her mother has lived with darkness--up close and personally for decades that is far darker than Josef. Or perhaps, he would grow much darker when the two women who drew him toward the light were no longer around to pull him away from it.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I think Sarah took one look at Charles on that train station platform and knew he was something special, too.

Alle

Thank you for stopping in and reading!

Sarah is a lot like Beth in that she made her own choices. She saw what she wanted and went for it. That it didn't work out for her (at least not yet) is sad.

I hope one day she awakens from her long nap,

Nope. Not my intention to mess with your head at all, but I do think that there are some similarities between the two men, and Daddy dearest gets the prize for being the darkest by far.

Did she ever catch a glimpse of a shared darkness?

Makes you wonder...

Damn, you are really good at this. Capturing so much in a short format. Another job very well done.

I love this. There is a definite dark side to her Charles. It is such a sad omen of things to come.
