I'm a little dizzy - you had me holding my breath to the very end. For a moment I didn't think Josef was going to do it.
But this was real and hard and hot and suffocating.
Beautiful. I had a very real, physical reaction to that sentence - I felt it to the tips of my toes.

Now I wonder if Mick will be happy or not with the decision. True - in the original storyline it is Mick himself that asks Josef to Turn him, but it was so that he could save Beth. In yours, he didn't need to be a vampire to save Beth. A very human Mick accomplished it. So now does he regret his friend 'saving' him when it's not necessary, now that Beth is safe? Or does he relish the chance to spend more time on earth with the woman and friend he loves?

I can't wait to read on and find out.

Well that's the question, indeed. A perfect summation - and it was such fun to ponder the ramifications.

It is amazing ,how much power Mick has on both of them ,even now, almost dead on the floor. Those bonds are unique!

Thanks ,red! :rose:

Absolutely fabulous.

What a wonderful conundrum you have laid out for us here for Josef and Beth. Interesting that Josef is thinking of what Mick would want and initially making the call not to Turn him, only to be persuaded by Beth.

How fascinating indeed to consider the possibilities from here. What an artist you are with these characters and situations!

Thank you, Red!!!

Jenna

This was fantastic, Red! :rose: What a fascinating look at how things could have turned out, had Josef not talked to Guillermo.

I love how you included ML dialogue in your story. You recreated the same scene, just with slightly different circumstances.
Pooling, creeping, it spread a grisly halo around the battered, defeated body on the ground.
Amazing imagery! :notworthy:
Flashes of memory, the final moments before he fell, the sensations overwhelming: fear, exhilaration, desperation, love.

Life.

That’s what Mick felt as the first bullet shattered his breastbone – he'd never felt more alive.
:hankie: :happysigh:

Thank you! :hearts: I'm off to read part 2!

Such a powerful piece but all thru it I was praying Josef would do what needed to be done.
