this was a really moving piece, nutmegger.

This sentence more than any of stopped me in my tracks. There's just something so raw in that statement. It really made me think not just of Mick, stepping up to enlist way back when, but to our young men and women now. I liked the way you contrasted the two points of view as well.

BlueEyedMonster wrote:Beautifully done and so very true to character. Long before Coraline war had changed Mick St. John from a carefree boy to a battle worn man. You captured that spirit so well Thank you.
Thank you so much. :rose:

Thank you, Luxe.
WWII was a life changer for Mick. He's not the type to go off on a tear, but if he does, it's of monumental importance to him.

I've been rereading Memorial Day stories today, and I had to go find this thoughtful story and bump it up in honor of the day. May the sacrifice of all who have served, especially those who have died in service to their country, never be forgotten.

This is like a punch in the gut. "...stopped me in my tracks" as Luxe said. Well done! It may be trite, but "freedom isn't free."

Thank you for bumping this! :flowers:
