We don't know much right now, but I thought I'd start a thread for updates and discussion as more news comes in...

On Friday, it was announced that Jason had withdrawn from the BMW Charity ProAm Golf Tournament due to scheduling conflicts. His manager has shared with me that the reason is because "he will be shooting an independent film at that time."

Needless to say, a film role is a fabulous opportunity and we're looking forward to finding out all of the details, regardless of the size of the project.

Oh this is great news! And about time too. The poor boy has been out of work for far too long. I hope it's a decent sized role for him .

Well, he has had a few guest shots, including one coming up this summer in "Lie to Me."

And while we don't have anything "official," rumor has it that this part is substantial. Watch this space for futher developments!

It looks like the "independent film project" in question is Searching for Sonny, a comedy/mystery being shot in Fort Worth, TX:

FORT WORTH, Texas—May 3, 2010—Fort Worth gets a taste of Hollywood starting this week as local film production company Red Productions begins shooting “Searching for Sonny,” a comedy written and directed by Cowtown native Andrew Disney.

The film will feature Minka Kelly, known best for her role in the popular television series “Friday Night Lights” and for her recent appearance in the independent film hit “500 Days of Summer,” as well as Jason Dohring, whose breakout role was in the critically-acclaimed show “Veronica Mars.” Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, who form the New York City comedy duo, BriTANick, will also play key roles in the film (best known video sketch below.)

Yay!!!!!!! And it sounds interesting too!

Somebody must have liked Minka and Jason's chemistry in Body Politic. GO JASON!!!

Off topic I know, but it's interesting that they talk up Minka's appearance in 500 Days of Summer; she appears in the movie all of 2 minutes at the end. (It is a fun movie overall though.)
